    “Ysgubor ucha is a beautiful cottage.”

    Well kept very clean and tidy. It has everything you need for your stay. This is our second time at this cottage but not our last we will be back for another relaxing stay. Neil and karyn our lovely people who own the cottage nothing is too much trouble plus the welcome pack you receive on arrival is a lovely though

Hidden away in the charming village of Llanelidan, Ysgubor Ucha is the perfect holiday cottage for a couple is pursuit of a tranquil base to call home as they explore all that this part of Wales has to offer, from rolling hills, charming towns and exciting outdoor attractions.

Admire the character and charm of the stone-built exterior before entering, where you will be charmed by the contemporary interior design making a striking contrast to the outside.

Within the kitchen, the quality appliances are arranged in a sleek assortment and complement the exposed beams and brick wall, creating a wonderful space to cook up a storm for you and your loved one.

After an action-packed afternoon, look forward to settling down for the evening within the sitting room, where a plush seating arrangement rests in front of the TV, with a woodburning stove crackling in the background, this is a wonderful space to spend quality time with your partner.

When sleep calls, a well-presented double bedroom awaits, boasting good storage space and a charming original feature fireplace.

Spend summer afternoons within the garden, where table and chairs offer a spot for alfresco dining and the spacious lawn is good for canine companions to roam.

For a special treat one evening, take a stroll into the centre of Llanelidan village to dine at The Leyland Arms, a cosy pub serving great food and offering a great spot for enjoying a pint after a long walk amidst the North Wales countryside.

Alternatively, travel slightly further to Pwllglas, where you will find another pub and an award-winning farm and deli shop, which also has a quaint café so that you can enjoy a freshly baked cake before you explore the surroundings.

The hilltop town of Ruthin lies further north, where you will be spoilt for choice by the selection of places to eat and drink, accompanied by historical buildings, home to a range of independent shops, awaiting to be explored.

Take a day trip to the nearby town of Llangollen, home to astonishing range of amenities to suit all tastes and things to do, including strolling down the Victorian Promenade or explore the World Heritage Site along eleven miles of canal from Gledrid to the Horseshoe Falls via the spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Other attractions within the town includes, taking a leisurely steam train ride, a ride on the horse-drawn canal boats or hiking up to the remains of Castell Dinas Brân, which overlooks the town.

Keen walkers can explore part of the Offa’s Dyke Path, the Clwydian Range with the highest point being Moel Famau or travel further afield to the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and hike up the highest mountain in Wales.

Other attractions within the area include the National Trust property of Erddig in Wrexham, One Planet Adventure in Llandegla for those with two-wheels and the historic city of Chester with its famous racecourse and zoo.

Pwllglas is a quaint village four miles south of the hilltop town of Ruthin, which lies to the north of Llangollen via the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass. There is a village shop where visitors can enjoy coffee and a cake before heading off to discover the surrounding area which includes a nearby butterfly conservation area and an old fort. Between here and Ruthin is the village of Llanfair-Dyffryn-Clwyd which has an impressive 15th century church and a pleasant pub, which serves quality food. Picturesque Ruthin is nearby and has a 700 year old history, boasting attractive, half-timbered buildings, mainly clustered around St Peter's Square, along with interesting shops and buildings and the Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople and is well worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin's doorstep, with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau, Loggerheads Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance are the Coast, Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and the wonderful historic city of Chester.
