The property

Resting on the outskirts of the hilltop town of Ruthin in North Wales is this charming sandstone cottage, Ty Coch, extensively and thoughtfully renovated to offer accommodation for six guests.

Enjoying contemporary style yet still retaining character, Ty Coch is perfect for three couples or a family seeking a relaxing retreat to the North Wales countryside, with the added benefit of a hot tub and enclosed garden.

Park up outside the front of the property with room for two cars before heading down the side of the house to the front door; be welcomed into the porch area which retains the exposed sandstone wall, before making your way into the open-plan living space.

Come together around the dining table in the kitchen and dining area, with quality Bosch appliances to make use of when rustling up a treat, and a long dining table to seat all.

Following your home-cooked feast take the three steps up into the lounge area, with underfloor heating to warm you, bi-fold doors opening up onto the patio and a Smart TV with sofas to unwind on.

Take the conversation outside to the beautiful enclosed garden to watch the children play on the lawn while you relax on the patio furniture, or take an evening dip in the hot tub as the sun goes down.

One of the lovely bedrooms rests on the ground-floor, home to a king-size bed and a feature brick fireplace.

Head upstairs to find a roomy twin bedroom, a family bathroom with a large P-shape bath, and finally a master king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room to complete the layout.

The property lies just a mile from the heart of Ruthin, a town which enjoys an elevated hilltop position, offering a popular stop for cyclists with its many cafés and tearooms, along with shops and pubs for a perfect self-catering stay.

Visit Ruthin's attraction of Nantclwyd y Dre Historic House and Gardens, Wales' oldest dated timbered town house with building beginning in 1435; you can now explore the house, beautiful gardens and even take a peek at the bats living in the attic via the 'Bat Cam'!

Ruthin Craft Centre and the various independent shops in the town offer a chance to see local artwork and crafts, and maybe even purchase a souvenir of your stay too!

Walkers can look forward to plenty of walking routes and areas to explore, from easier landscapes like Loggerheads Country Park and Alyn Waters Country Park, to more strenuous outings up Moel Famau, Foel Fenlli, Moel y Gamelin and Moel Morfydd.

Thrill-seeking mountain bikers can also enjoy these peaks as well as heading out to the Llandegla Moors and the Old Horseshoe Pass.

Venture over to Llyn Brenig for some Welsh water adventures like sailing, kayaking, canoeing or water zorbs, take a walk around the lake, enjoy a spot of fishing, or get out on your bike!

For a scenic break to North Wales visit Ty Coch.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.

About the location

RUTHIN

Llangollen 12 miles; Bala 18.5 miles; Chester 25 miles; Betws-y-Coed 30 miles.

The hilltop town of Ruthin lies to the north of Llangollen via the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass. The town is picturesque with attractive half-timbered buildings, mainly clustered around St Peter’s Square. There are many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are the coast, Snowdonia National Park and historic Chester.
