Stevie “Cottage was nice.”
Log burner was huge and a plentiful supply of wood!. Kitchen had a very good supply of utensils and everything that was needed. Noise from road was not a problem. Only thing would say would be bathrooms could do with a little updating..Pub over road served nice meals. Lovely places around to visit about 40 minutes drive. Betswy-co-ed around 10 minutes. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.

Tim “We had a week in Glan Nug, 8 adults 1 3year old and 2 dogs, there was plenty of room to accommodate all of us, a well equipped kitchen enabled us to take turns to cook evening meals ,then games on an evening round the large kitchen table.”
Bedrooms are a good size and our bed was king-size and very comfortable. There are 2 on suites and a shared bathroom, from experience ide say the only downside is there is no loo on the top floor which means a long creaky walk for a night time toilet visit. There is a lovely barbecue and plenty of wood for the stove ( We never needed it as the house is plenty warm enough ) your pretty much in-between Llangollen and Betws y coed there's a large Aldi and a home bargains in Llangollen and a realy good pub 5 mins walk away in Rhydlydan that does food. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did, Thanks Glan nug we all loved it.

Barrie “The Glan Nug comfortably slept us 8 middle aged men on adventure weekend in snowdonia.”
Bryn the owner was extremely helpful when we arrived and during our stay. Great location, great local pub and would 100 % recommend this lovely property! Looking forward to visiting The Glan Nug in the future. Barrie

Luci “Lovely spacious cottage, all you need for a holiday in wales with a big family.”
Only had a slight problem, with the back yard and the fact there is no grass, one of my dogs refused to go to the toilet on the concrete, but there is lots of beautiful walks near by. Location is spot on, beautiful view out the back, lots of cows and sheep and the pub over the road is fab. Doggie friendly too. Cottage is on the main A5 but didnt disturb us atall. Great comfy cottage in a fab central location. Thankyou to the owner!!

5 lady walkers had a lovely stay here, house was clean on arrival, very comfortable, well equipped, lots of hot water, house was warm, good location with excellent pub nearby, road noise not a particular issue, well situated for Snowdonia National Park, would recommend

Calvin “The overall stay was good, it had everything we needed and worked well.”
Log burner and BBQ were a great addition tl have. When we turned up, it all looked lovely. Unfortunately over the weekend I found it to get worse, there were a lot of cobwebs across the ceiling and a thick build up of dust in the kitchen in places along the tiles. In my room, I found a black ball of coarse hair, most definitely wasn't mine, I'm blonde and nor my parters as she's light brown and I'm just hoping it wasn't in the bed. My friends had also told me they'd found things on their rooms too. If the general cleanliness was to improve alot, I'd happily stay there again
- Calvin, May 2024Thank you for your feedback and I was surprised by your comment about cleanliness and your very low marks ! As an owner and I do all the cleaning and take pride in making sure that every carpet is vacuumed and all floors are mopped and wipe down all surfaces . This is done the same before every customer arrives and I feel it shows in the comments I receive off most guests ! It’s unfortunate that you found it below your standards, but I would never have left a ball of hair under any circumstances ,, Property Owner

Robert “Absolute gem of a cottage lovely and clean well looked after over the road from a lovely local pub serving fresh food and cold beers.”
Would recommend this cottage lovely area as a base to explore North Wales.

Tim “Was for a family meet up, and the space was perfect for our needs with multiple seating areas and the secure outside yard (both for kids and dog)!”
Good food in the pub just across the road and great location for Betws-Y-Coed and the surrounding area.

Lisa “Just spent a lovely week at G!”
An Nug cottage. The cottage is by the main road but this didn't bother us at all, though if you've got all the windows open then the traffic can be quite noisy. Cottage lovely and spacious, plenty of room for us all. Love!y space outside looking over the stream and fields. We found the kitchen well equipped and had everything we needed. Good location for visiting north Wales and Snowdonia. It would have been nice to have a welcome pack on our arrival. Other cottages we have stayed in left some milk, tea bags and a cake etc, and a folder with local information. There is a!so no books, games or DVD's in the cottage. But we enjoyed staying in the cottage and I would return again.

Clare “A spacious property for 10 people.”
Well laid out and fully equipped. Ideally located to explore the local area and amenities.

Katy “A great location for our trip to zipworld with some nice walks once off the main road and a really nice local pub, house was great for 3 families sharing and beds comfy with unlimited wood for the burner.”
The kitchen could have been cleaner and the burner cleaned out, the tv in the 2nd lounge did not work and the bathrooms could do with updating, one shower leaked, one too hot or freezing cold. We didn`t appreciate the email from Sykes the first morning we got up about all the rules for checking out (only there 2 nights) maybe this would be better in advance for such short breaks? and didn`t feel all the tasks were for us when we have to be out early e.g. empty bins, strip the beds etc....
- Katy, March 2023Dear mrs Katy Thank you for your comments but would have appreciated knowing about any problems while you were at the property . As I do the cleaning I would like to know what was not clean in the kitchen ? It’s impossible to clean out the wood burner when I leave a fire in for your arrival ! I don’t watch TV during changeovers , so unless I’m made aware of a problem I simply cannot solve it ! One shower door is quite tight so I will look into trying another type of seal . I will test the showers after the next guests leave, again it’s a shame I was not aware of this problem ! I have tried to cover all the points that were aimed at me, but consider your score of the property to be very insulting !!! Property Owner

Sarah “This cottage was bigger and better equipped than the website shows.”
The kitchen had everything you could need. The pub over the road was very friendly and had great food.

Valerie “We really enjoyed staying at the property.”
It had the exact requirements of bedrooms that we needed. Everything was clean and the kitchen was very well kitted out....we cooked there most evenings. We also used the BBQ area one evening for a family birthday which was perfect. Surrounding area beautiful to explore....we climbed Snowdon, visited Betsy!! Bedgelert- walked hills, forest and river walk, Bala town and the railway, Conwy and Swallow Falls and visited Menai and Beaumaris in Anglesey...all totally stunning. The Internet cut out 2 days into our stay...the reason we awarded 4 stars was because it would have been good to have better communication from the owner explaining what was happening. We found out by texting him to ask whether there was a fault and although we received a reply there was no update the rest of the week. Open Reach turned up at the house at 11.30 on our last morning....we would have been out at that time normally but happened to be there because one of our party was not well. The fault was not at the house. Thank you Bryn for the use of your beautiful house for our family holiday.

Shaun “Absolutely excellent 7 night stay here - this for 5 adults and 5 children with everyone easily accommodated and everyone enjoying their stay.”
A really good dining area/kitchen with all essential facilities and plenty of room to relax indoors and out. We loved the outside BarBQ area and had a couple of relaxing evenings enjoying the peace and quiet that this area gives you. We normally stay on the coast but took the chance to explore more of the area and were not disappointed. Llanberis and Betws Y Coed the highlights although my grandchildren will say the Zip Fforest was theirs. Still easy to get to Conwy and Llandudno as well so spoilt for choice for things to do. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again next year if possible.
- Shaun, August 2022 -
Stacey “Oh my goodness, this cottage is amazing, we absolutely loved our stay, it is situated perfectly between our much loved destinations.”
Our 5 year old granddaughter did not want to leave! Neither did we actually! The owner was kind and helpful in the lead up to our holiday for any questions we had. Perfect!!
- Stacey, July 2022 -
Elizabeth “We all had a fabulous holiday in this beautiful house.”
Facilities were amazing, clean and tidy and perfect for our family gathering! Fabulous views too!
- Elizabeth, July 2022 -
Geraldine “The cottage was absolutely beautiful.”
Mrs Evans was very helpful and the cottage was comfy, warm and cosy. The scenery is absolutely glorious, lots of beautiful attractions such as castles, places to eat and beaches to visit and friendly locals. I have never visited Wales before and look forward to returning.
- Geraldine, April 2022 -
Mauricio “This cottage is equipped with everything you need for a stress-free holiday.”
It's just a few minutes drive from great places to explore in Snowdonia. We would recommend and book this cottage again ini the future.

Helen “Everything we needed provided and in a lovely part of Wales.”
- Helen, September 2021 -
Nadia “Good points - constant hot water, heated kitchen floor, good sized accommodation with good sized bedrooms and lounge.”
Plenty of saucepans, baking trays, casserole dishes etc albeit a bit on the old side. bad points - house needed a good clean - lots of cobwebs in every room, utensils in kitchen drawers need updating - some were broken or just old. Plates and glasses were chipped. Pet hair on kitchen door mat. Patchy wifi connection. We did contact the owner about a couple of issues - broken toilet seat, TV not working and a smell coming from the outside drains and he did spend a day fixing them which we were grateful for. Y Giler pub was nice - good pub food but you need to book a table and order food 24 hours in advance. We visited Bala lake, Conwy falls. Llandudno and Betws y Coed - walked to Swallow Falls. This was the most expensive property we have ever stayed in and it wasn't as nice as I was expecting compared to other holiday properties we have stayed in previously.
- Nadia, August 2021 -
Saji “It's a beautiful place to relax and unwind.”
The cottage is spacious and kids friendly. The rooms are with a great view, and the Landlord was kind and helpful. The place is so clean, and the surrounding areas are filled with stunning views and peace.Looking forward a winter break highly recommend this place
- Saji, July 2021 -
Narasimhan “Glan Nug was ideal cottage for us and met the expectations perfectly.”
We liked it's location out of nowhere but provided a nice ambience of holiday experiences. We made use of the provided ameneties well.
- Narasimhan, July 2021 -
Lisa “Comfortable, good do with a good deep clean.”
Enjoyed our stay.
- Lisa, July 2021 -
Suzy “Such a fabulous farmhouse which we really enjoyed and wouldn’t hesitate booking again.”
Loved it being on the a5 for great access to interesting places. Only slight criticism is the was grouting that needed re doing in the one en-suite shower and another big pot / casserole dish or two would've been great but we would still stay again and loved every minute. The house was super warm and the owner was lovely. Thank you!
- Suzy, June 2021 -
Debbie “Really beautiful house in a great location.”
- Debbie, May 2021 -
Sarah “Long weekend spent in this lovely cosy cottage.”
Log burner was awsome and kept the the whole cottage heated. Ideal for families sharing. Ideal base for tourists. Everything we needed in the cupboards regarding utensils, cutlery crockery.
- Sarah, September 2020 -
Diane M. “The house is spacious, well equipped and comfortable There was 1 minor snag on day 1 and the owner was there in a heartbeat to sort it out.”
Although a little remote, it was ideally situated as central to so many locations we wanted to visit. Parking for numerous cars and a great little pub (restaurant) a mere 5 min walk away. Will definitely return to stay here.
- Diane M., September 2020 -
Sarah “Absolutely fantastic break and lovely cottage.”
Location was great base to visit Snowdonia, Portmeirion, Anglesey, Colwyn Bay etc Landlord extremely helpful and came round with a minor query we had. Definitely going back and would highly recommend
- Sarah, September 2020 -
Andrew “The downside of the property being on the A5 was already noted, and this could be heard but to be fare it did not detract from this wonderful property, as totally un heard when on the back decking watching herons and other fauna.”
a truly relaxing holiday in beautiful Wales with access to loads of local sights and activities, 10 out of 10 for Bryn the owner.
- Andrew, August 2020 -
Diana “Nice place, in my case it has excellent location”
- Diana, September 2019 -
Luke “Glan Nug is a nice house, less than a 5 min walk to nearest pub, which serves nice food.”
The location is quiet and remote except for the A5 which runs in front of the house, this does however give good access routes to a lot of locations. We found the nearest large supermarket (tesco) to be about 30mins drive away.
- Luke, August 2019 -

The house was lovely home from home would recommend anyone to stay here, the pub across the road does great food at good prices a thumbs up from us all thank you

Manish “Very spacious cottage with three baths.”
Ideal for a big families. Lovely scenic site at rear of house. A pub close by and local attractions not more
- Manish, August 2018 -
Michael “Glan Nug is a lovely cottage situated in a small hamlet about 8 miles from Betws-y-coed.”
Although the cottage is on the main A5 this was not an issue as we hardly noticed traffic noise. There is a very nice pub just a 5 minute walk across the road. There was ample room inside the house for our large family and outside space with decking beside a babbling stream. There was plenty of room for parking, we had five cars between us. Key collection and return was easy and we all had a very enjoyable stay. If we were to have one small criticism it would be that the dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid to be able to use it. Overall, we would definitely stay again and recommend to others with large families. Mike & Madeline Dixon 28th May 2018

Angela “We chose this accommodation for a family group as we were booked on the nearby Zipwire and this was the perfect location.”
It was good having two sitting rooms so that those who wanted to watch TV could do so and others could read or play games in the second room. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was refreshing to have supplies such as cleaning materials (washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cleaning cloths and tea towels etc) available as many properties fail to provide these and it is then difficult to clear up properly following meals etc. The bedrooms all seemed freshly decorated and were of a good size and the ratio of en-suites/bathrooms was perfect. There was plenty of hot water too which was great. It was nice to have the outside seating area, particularly as we were lucky enough to have good weather and the bonus of a pub within walking distance. Parking was very good too - plenty of room for our vehicles. The only small recommendation I would make is that the two front bedrooms would benefit from black out blinds/curtains to help block out the headlights of passing cars on the main road.
- Angela, May 2018 -
Michael “We rented the cottage for the week of m birthday so that we could celebrate with all of the family.”
We had members at different times during the week including a dog. Plenty of room, ample numbers of dishes etc and the two rooms with tvs, games etc was really good. Scenery is lovely , easy to find and not long to get to places like Betws-y-Coed. Highly recommend.
- Michael, April 2018 -
Jennifer “We had an absolutely wonderful time at Glan Nug.”
The location was ideal for us to travel in all directions and visit tourist attractions in North Wales. The downsides were a) the cleanliness e.g. some of the saucepans and frying pans had dried up food on them, the washing up brush should have been put in the bin, the bath mat was covered with a lump of dark hair ......... it generally just wasn't very clean and b) things were very tired and could have done with replacing. Having said that we did have a lovely time and everyone we met was very friendly.
- Jennifer, March 2018 -
Adele “Lovely cottage, owners made it very welcoming with Christmas decorations and chocolates for our New Year break.”
Wood burner made sure the house was sufficiently heated. Would recommend.
- Adele, December 2017 -
Sophie “The cottage as lovely and very spacious, my partner loved the log burner and was keen to get a fire going as soon as we stepped foot into the cottage.”
It was well equipped with plates, cutlery etc as we spent 3 nights here and decided to cook on a couple of occasions. Myself, partner, friends and family who stayed with us were very pleased with the cottage too. Even though the cottage was on the main A5 road we had no problems with noise just the occasional car going past which didn't bother us at all. We would all definitely return to the cottage for a weekend getaway maybe even next year :D Thank you to the owners of the cottage who put some birthday balloons and banners up for my partner as this was a nice surprise for him :)
- Sophie, October 2016 -
Troung “When i rang to arrange keys collection the owner was very friendly and helpfull.”
We had a leak in the upstairs bedroom which resulted in one of the guess cloths getting wet.
- Troung, September 2016 -
David R “The accommodation was exactly what we needed, it was really spacious and comfortable.”
The log burner made it cosy and warm as the weather was chilly. The location was good for us and within easy reach of the places we wanted to visit. Would definitely book again if travelling to North Wales.
- David R, April 2016 -
Angela “We loved Glan Nug's welcoming 'feel' and spaciousness; large bedrooms, en-suites, main bathroom.”
The huge log burner in the main lounge was superb. Everyone loved the snug with its comfortable seating. Other plus points were the well-stocked kitchen with underfloor heating, the provision of TVs and other entertainment systems in lounge and snug, constant hot water, the thoughtfulness of the owners in providing Christmas decorations plus selection boxes for the children. Outside: the stream running by, a huge log store, great parking space for the cars. And, of course, the spectacular beauty of North Wales, even when the rain was pouring down. The waterfalls were thunderous and the mountains just gorgeous.
- Angela, December 2015 -
Kevin “We enjoyed being in the cottage, the wood burner and general warmth of the cottage was great, very comfortable and had a nice feel.”
It was well positioned for getting to Snowdon and surrounding tourist attractions. The owner was lovely, everything was very organised and good instructions.
- Kevin, October 2015 -
Tony “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glan Nug and can't fault the cottage.”
It was as described and perfect for our needs. We met the owner who was really friendly and helpful, he gave the impression that nothing would have been too much trouble to ensure we had a great stay and we would like to thank all involved for making this a trouble free and enjoyable stay.
- Tony, May 2015 -
Catherine “The spacious open plan kitchen/diner and main sitting room with it's large log burner made for a very inviting and sociable space to relax in.”
The owners have thought of everything we could possibly need with all mod cons in the kitchen, an ample wood pile to allow us to enjoy the log burner and even storage for our mountain bikes was available. The bedrooms were spacious & very well presented and the whole house was clean and very well maintained. Normally we're out and about making the most of the area but this cottage was a pleasure to come back to and when we visit Wales in future we would definitely look to book it again.
- Catherine, November 2014 -
Jon “Great location - on a main road but outside a busy area, exactly what we were looking for.”
Amazing scenery, space for a large party to eat together every night, and a second living room for chilling out.
- Jon, July 2014 -
Michaela “Great home for meeting up with friends.”
Sociable areas and the separate snug to chat on an evening. Ideal base for travelling around the Snowdon area.
- Michaela, June 2014 -
Jennifer “It was a wonderful cottage, very spacious and clean, excellent views, would happily stay again.”
- Jennifer, August 2013 -

On arrival we found everything clean and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending this house for a perfect holiday.
