“We stayed in september , First thing I did after settling in was to have a shower in which I slipped and injured my knee on the edge of the bath, this was due to a totally useless shower mat which just slipped as soon as I stepped on it, you cannot reach the tap on the shower because the glass screen can't be opened as it is up against the wash basin.”

The wash basin is too small and to make it even smaller there is a fixed tap in the middle of the basin, so really the bathroom isn't fit for purpose, could this be why there is no picture of it? The bedroom door catches the mattress on the bed when opening, over complicated cooker, seemed like we spent ages reading instruction manuals I know that isn't the fault of the property, but whats wrong with turning a knob.We really love Portmadog and surrounding area and were really looking forward to ...

I usually am not one for complaining and I wasn't going to leave feedback but I thought I had to tell you our views. very dissapointed

Thanks for your feedback Jim. We’re sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay, reflected in your 50% scoring overall. If you had contacted us during your stay, we would’ve had the opportunity to address the issues you’ve raised. Regarding your comments:- 1) The shower mat is supplied at the side of the bath. It is up to the user to check it is fitted in place before stepping on it. We cannot be held responsible if guests don’t ensure correct fitting. 2) That is the case with most showers, you usually have to stand in them to access the controls. 3) The bathroom is fit for purpose, the washbasin being perfectly usable. 4) The twin bedroom door touches the end of the quilt when closing the door. The door can still be fully opened and closed with ease. 5) The cooker requires 2 control knobs to be operated, function selector and temperature, which is fairly standard. A quick start guide on the worktop shows you how to do this, so there is no need to “spend ages reading instruction manuals”. We go to a lot of effort to provide a comfortable and well equipped holiday home for our guests. We do feel a bit aggrieved that you have absolutely nothing positive to say about your stay. Despite saying that “I usually am not one for complaining” you’ve made a point of complaining about some fairly trivial things. I suppose you can’t keep all of the people happy all of the time! The property

Bwthyn Llechen is a spacious ground floor apartment in a harbourside location near the centre of Porthmadog, on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Formerly the Slate Wharf manager's house for the Oakley quarry at Ffestiniog, it has now been carefully converted, retaining its fine exterior, into a relaxing, contemporary holiday apartment.

If you are keen to reduce your carbon footprint you can arrive by train or bicycle and have masses to do from here without needing a car.

Porthmadog is home to the Ffestiniog Railways - hop on a train and visit the slate mines at Llechwedd, travelling through some stunning scenery, or take a Sherpa bus to the foot of Snowdon, going through the pretty village of Beddgelert.

Good cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance - try Hen Fecws!

Discover wonderful beaches at Black Rock Sands and pretty coves and bays around the harbour at Borth Y Gest.

This apartment is a delight and in the most convenient central location.

There is parking for two cars, too.

A fabulous place to stay whilst on holiday in North Wales!

About the location

PORTHMADOG

Harlech 5 miles; Caernarfon 19 miles.

The bustling harbour town of Porthmadog lies on the Glaslyn Estuary and enjoys a stunning setting. The gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, Porthmadog is full of individual shops and restaurants, and home to the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland railway where you can travel by steam through spectacular Snowdonia scenery, to Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caerforn . The pretty village of Borth Y Gest, with its cliffs and coves, is a short walk or drive from the town. The well known and unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is just down the coast. Situated on a rugged clifftop on its own private peninsula, Portmeirion, famous as the location of the TV show The Prisoner and the final episode of Cold Feet, is surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and woodlands. The area also boasts castles at Criccieth and Harlech, and superb unspoilt beaches such as Black Rock Sands, where the sands stretch as far as the eye can see. Also within reach is the famous Zip World Slate Caverns and Bounce Below where you can get involved with a variety of activities including the thrilling zip wires and underground caverns to explore; there is something here to suit the whole family. An ideal location for the attractions of Snowdonia and the The Lleyn Peninsula.
