“I stayed at the cottage because I had walked past it a few times on the way to Moel Siabod, and thought it looked nice.”
It’s 12 minutes away from Pen y Pass and a short drive from Betws-y-Coed, so the location is ideal for hiking and in a quiet location, especially if the other two cottages are unoccupied, although the walls are so thick, we didn’t hear them.

It’s 12 minutes away from Pen y Pass and a short drive from Betws-y-Coed, so the location is ideal for hiking and in a quiet location, especially if the other two cottages are unoccupied, although the walls are so thick, we didn’t hear them.
The single track road to the cottage is steep and I hit a rock trying to let a van pass, so I need a new tyre, not a great start. On arrival it wasn’t clear which cottage was mine, not a big deal, but a sign would have helped so I didn’t disturb the neighbour to the left, walking past their window. Outside to the rear, the broken old plastic box next to the heat pumps, with rubbish in doesn’t give a nice image. Inside the cottage is nice, small and rustic, but it needs to be refreshed. The sofa was ripped and wood showing through, the dining chairs were split and the cushions collapsed. It didn’t matter how high the heating was turned up, the downstairs was cold, so the wood burning stove is essential. The kitchen was a mixture of glasses and crockery and the knives were blunt, really frustrating when trying to cook. Upstairs was lovely and warm, the double bedroom to the front was a good size with comfy bed, the back room with bunk beds was a little small but again nice. The bathroom was ok but the water stopped completely on three occasions, and wouldn’t come back on for ages, this is a major inconvenience mid shower or when you have to go downstairs to wash your hands. The shower curtain is far too small to shower in and just gets in the way and the skylight in the bathroom leaked when it rained. Such a shame as the location is ideal and if it was improved a little it would be an amazing place to stay.
Thank you for your review and I’ve taken all your points and will address them. Apologies for the water that has never happened before .
