“Everything was brilliant except for the mattress on the double bed there was a big dip and lumpy .”

..also there was a nasty crack in the bedroom window above the bed which we consider to be dangerous if fell in whilst in bed.......but doesn't deter us from holidaying there again we liked the property x

The property

Tyn Llwyn Cornel Barn is a rustic, detached eco-friendly cottage nestled in the tranquil community of Garreg, Gwynedd.

It's the ideal base for walkers, trekkers, and wildlife enthusiasts to explore the various landscapes of North Wales and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

This property has been built from stone reclaimed from the surrounding land; wood from trees that have fallen naturally; hemp and sheep's wool used as insulation; an 'earthen' floor; air source heat pump.

A unique endeavour to showcase the potential beauty of an 'eco home'.

Unpack your luggage at the off-road parking and be greeted with the delightful picture-book landscape of this stone cottage.

Warmth is guaranteed throughout your stay thanks to wool insulation and air source heating.

Be welcomed by the open-plan living space with tall, sloped ceilings, Velux windows and charming wooden beams; prepare a packed lunch for your walk or set the table for four in the well-equipped kitchen, which includes an electric oven, hob, and fridge/freezer to stock up on local produce.

After a day of excursions, ignite the woodburning stove in the welcoming sitting area and snuggle into the cushions of the spacious corner sofa, while catching up with loved ones or watching a movie on the Smart TV.

Don't let the rain and mud keep you from going for a stroll; there's a washing machine on hand for a quick clean, and a tumble dryer in the outdoor utility.

The utility can also be used to store bicycles, boots, and wet trekking gear.

As night falls, younger guests can climb the stairs to the mezzanine twin room, which has a charming location in the wooden beams overlooking the living area, while on the ground floor, a bright and spacious king-size awaits with an original stone feature wall.

Soak tired legs in a hot bath in the ground-floor bathroom, or rinse off in the walk-in shower, which has a unique stone basin and slate floors.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the front patio while admiring the surrounding countryside's rustic charm.

For local delights, be sure to visit The Brondanw Arms, a traditional Welsh pub with roaring fires and cask ales, and Y Garreg Shop and Kitchen offers local produce and delicious breakfast and lunch options and enjoy delicious pizza and cocktails on a friday and saturday evening.

Visit Plas Brondanw, the former home of Welsh architect Clough William-Ellis, which is now available to the public and features a beautiful garden to explore.

William-Ellis is the brains behind Portmerion, a wonderful village just a short drive away where you can stroll through a picture-perfect, Italian-style village nestled into Welsh hills overlooking the coast; take woodland walks, stop for lunch at one of the cafés, and pick up souvenirs from the village shops.

The iconic Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways runs past the edge of the field opposite the property for 14 miles of rural pasture and majestic forests.

Catch a ride from just next door in Porthmadog, where there is a variety of shops and eateries and historical stories to discover in the town's Maritime Museum..

Travel north from Tyn Llwyn Cornel Barn to Beddgelert, a family-friendly town with plenty of history to discover; browse for local crafts, second-hand literature and art at Tŷ Isaf, before cycling or walking the Rhyd Ddu trail to Eryri's (Snowdonia) peaks, or adventure underground at Sygun Copper Mine.

Those looking for a seaside escape should head to Criccieth, which sits at the mouth of Cardigan Bay and boasts the fairy-tale Castell Criccieth, as well as a plethora of eateries to sample local seafood, or pack your towels for a relaxing day by the sea, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the breathtaking Llŷn Peninsula.

Tyn Llwyn Cornel Barn is a spectacular, environmentally conscious accommodation for exploring the attractions of North Wales.
