“We enjoyed a lovely week in Cefn Bryn Bach.”

It was warm and comfortable and had all the equipment we needed, except a teapot! The heating was easy to control and the TV is similar to ours at home so that was easy too! It was great to be able to walk down to the beach from the cottage. We would certainly return to this cottage if we go back to Criccieth in the future. We would highly recommend the Castle fish and chips shop. We explored most of the Llyn Peninsula. We now need another holiday to recover from all the walking (including the dog!)

“Whilst the accommodation provided as listed there were two issues that we would like to raise.”

Firstly there was a general lack of hot water when showering which causes an issue for a family of four. The second relates to past occupancy involving dogs. My daughter is allergic to dogs and dog hair. When the hearing was on the smell of dog was clear. In addition the cushions and blankets in living room triggered a reaction and resulted in her needing to take her tablets. Would suggest that when a dog is there a full steam clean might be useful.

We managed to pick the hotest week ever, but the cottage was well ventilated and cool. It had all the amenities we needed and was spotlessly clean. Owner was so lovely and helpful. Situated in the centre of bustling Criccieth but in a private position where sitting out is a pleasure. Would definitely recommend Thank You.

Accommodation very sparsely fitted out, not even a teapot! To make the morning cup or a corkscrew to enjoy a glass of wine! Needs to be made more homely, with more home comforts! Fantastic place to stay with dogs as you have your own fully enclosed garden. All in all a good central location, if staying you must eat at Dylan’s

“Just returned home after spending a week here with our two dogs and already we are looking at booking again for next year.”

The property is a lovely conversion and very spacious, the king size bed is super comfortable and the owners have made sure you have everything you need to make your stay a home from home. The owners actually live opposite the property and having spoke to the chap a few times, we found him very approachable and informative ( a genuine nice bloke). The area is well located and as everything you need close by (shops, restaurants, pubs) to make your stay a pleasant stay. Previous reviews mention the railway close to the property but this never bothered us as it only seems to be two carriage train so not as noisy as a locomotive with trailers Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting to visit this area of Wales. Patio furniture not as expected just a wooden bench style so no good for sunbathing otherwise faultless. Very friendly landlord living opposite and great little pub on doorstep. Fish and chips to die for so don't miss them. Enjoyed our stay despite little points above

“A spacious barn conversion with everything that you need for a holiday stay.”

Although it’s situated behind a pub and in front of a station car park you wouldn’t know most of the time. A warning about when the beer delivery lorry was coming and would block the courtyard entrance would have helped as we had a timed ticket for 10.15 am for the Ffestiniog Railway but the delivery crew were polite and all was well in the end. We would have appreciated a teapot and the sofas were a little deep for my back. The parking provision was very good and the location in Criccieth was very good for exploring the area. Near to the beach, Criccieth Castle a Spar Shop/Petrol Station and plenty of small independent shops. Great little place for an enjoyable stay.

“We had a lovely weeks stay at Cefn Bryn Bach, a great location in a beautiful part of North Wales.”

The cottage was clean, modern quiet and comfortable with only a few minutes walk to all the local amenities. It was our first visit to Criccieth and we weren’t disappointed absolutely stunning coastline and pretty little town. The only tiny issue for us was we would have liked a few more kitchen bits and bobs eg a grater,scales and a bigger pan for cooking for a family but otherwise faultless. We would definitely rebook.

“Loved it! Surprisingly quiet as it was sandwiched between High Street and railway line.”

The dogs loved the garden and I felt they were safe. I was a little concerned about booking a cottage in a small complex but it turned out to be absolutely fine. Ample parking though the entrance under the archway was a little tight for a large car!! I personally found the sofa a little low but managed by sitting on a cushion. We would certainly return there. Thoroughly recommended.

Great communication from owners and faultless check in .Location was excellent just off the high street could even hear the sea & fab views of the castle lit up . The cottage itself was superb - ideal for my mother who is in a wheelchair & the cottage was very disabled friendly . Felt safe & secure , very comfortable and the place immaculately clean . Lovely welcome gift on arrival & the owner was very attentive when we needed a little help with the boiler . All in all 5 star stay - didn’t want to leave and would not hesitate to book again .

“The description and images of Cefn Bryan Bach need updating, all the issues on the reviews have been addressed and it’s absolutely wonderful accommodation, the new sofas are lovely and comfortable, there’s a huge corridor with plenty of hooks for coats and the twin room has plenty of storage without a wardrobe, found the hairdryer and a storage basket in the bathroom much appreciated, plenty of cleaning products underneath the sink, my only criticism is the door mat, I noticed on the picture it was tiny and took my huge washable rug for wet feet and 2 rugs for the dogs to lay on in the lounge and kitchen areas, an extra toilet roll would have been appreciated, only 1 for 3 adults for 7 days.”

All in all a fabulous location, loved watching the trains passing by, no noise from pub either. 10/10

Cottage was close by to the Castle, shops, pubs and restaurants, also the Wales Coast Path is a 10 minute walk away. Thoroughly recommend and hope to be back in future. Thanks for a perfect stay.

“We stayed at this lodge for a week and it was really lovely.”

It is in a great location, clean and very spacious. Just a couple of recommendations - the lock was a bit tricky to master, think this needs to be looked at, cleaning cloths were not provided so we had to buy some and only 1 bin bag was provided which isn’t enough if you are there for a week. The lodge has a small garden area which would benefit from a washing line so you can hang your wet clothes out when being at the beach. There was a small airer but it kept blowing over outside which is why a washing line would be best (with pegs). Other than that we highly recommend this lodge and the owner was very nice and helpful too, he replied promptly to any questions we had

No nod to comfort or homeliness - no hairdryer, teapot, sieve, colander, cafetiere! Very long time since we have stayed in a cottage with no hairdryer. Minimum provision of crockery, thankfully only 2 of us. Such a shame as with a little more tlc this could be a lovely place to stay, but definitely not worth the amount we paid.

“Lovely cottage in a great location.”

No need to use car if you don’t wish to. Cottage right off high street, 5 mins if that from train station and less than 10 mins to beach at a slow pace! No issues with pub being so close, yes live music on the Saturday night but that why wouldn’t there be it’s a pub!! Nice touch of pot of welcome tea, sugar and milk along with a pack of Welsh cakes. Also cleaning materials available. Well equipped kitchen had all we needed. Cottage was warm and if needed heating soon had us warmed up from a cold walk and didn’t need to be on long and heat was held. Only thing we all commented on was that TV was small for space but that’s a personal preference!! Thank you so much for a lovely place to stay. Both my husband and I and my parents really enjoyed our stay here. So did our dog!!

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”

The location is ideal for those who want to enjoy Criccieth without having to use the car - as we did. The small garden area was ideal for our Spaniel who then got longer walks along the beaches - although there are some restrictions at certain times of the year. We tend to cook for ourselves and there was everythig that we required without having to use the microwave. There's a TV and WiFi should you need it. The property does back on to a car park and beyond that there is a, not very busy, railway line. Neither of these caused us any problems during our weeks stay. Would have no concern about booking another week away at this property - indeed, once we have looked at our calendar, that's exactly what we will do.

“Overall satisfied with the accommodation.”

Provided everything we required and ideal base to view the area. Good access to the town and the local beaches. However would have to say some of the facilities were basic. Surprised to find things such as toilet/kitchen rolls not provided and that there were no air fresheners in the rooms. Moreover there were no cleaning items so just as well we brought some of our own. Invariably previous guests have left items/condiments etc but there was nothing provided. Minor issues but does create an unfavourable impression.

The property is well placed for getting to other places. The railway line was not an issue neither was the pub. The Barn itself was attractive quiet and within walking distance of the shops. Ideal for our dogs as fully fenced in. There was no welcome pack so be aware you need to take milk tea and sugar and the basics ie salt pepper, if you arrive after the shops close. In all a great week.

( the first year I have forgotten mine but have always had one in our holiday property previously) Lovely French doors but they would benefit from cleaning. Sofas are very solid so we sat on a pillow to make them more comfortable, We would have given 5 stars ⭐️ if these little points were addressed. We would be happy to return. The location is behind a pub with a beer garden & even though the Euro games were on the noise wasn’t intrusive.

“Had a lovely stay at cefyn bryn Bach , the cottage is in the most perfect position very central for everywhere , it is situated at the back of the pub and at the side of the railway so throughout the day there is background noise that didn’t bother us at all , we never had sleepless nights the bed was quite comfortable , and under the covid rules you have to remove the covers when you leave , something I was dreading cause you never know what the mattress is like but it was really good , the bathroom was nice apart from the long black hair that was left in the sink I wasn’t too keen on , bedrooms were nice and the lounge kitchen area was very spacious .”

The sofas were rock hard I had to use my bedroom pillow to get a little comfort . The main door is dodgy to lock but once you have the knack it’s pretty simple . My main problem was the cleanliness, on arrival I had to wash all the cutlery , crockery and glasses , coffee stained cups , and the glasses were dirty , there is no dishwasher so they should be using fairy liquid , and the windows need cleaning . These are minor problems which are so easy to rectify , people shouldn’t be put off . Criccieth is a beautiful town and I’m sure I will return.

The host/owner was friendly and welcoming on arrival an spoke when briefly bumped into during the week .The cottage is nicely decorated with a big bathroom and open kitchen lounge. The main Bedroom is beautiful and very cozy. Only 1 bad point there was a strange smell off garlic/sulphur in the small bedroom, but no doubt is easily sorted other then that i highly recommend this property.

Very tidy and clean, good layout and ample room in all areas. Good parking adjacent to the cottage. Met by the owner on arrival who explained how the stiff door handle worked to avoid issues. I’m sure it would not be difficult to rectify as many people have commented about the door handle before.

“The place is not well equipped.”

The pots etc need to be replaced. Mattress in main bedroom is totally warn out, well past its time.... does not contribute to well rested nights. There are a need of more bathroom rails and bath towels!! The TV is small, not suitable for the sitting area. There was a panty in the washing machine, shows it was not properly inspected previously. It is very difficult to figure out how to lock the door from inside and outside. Generally this cottage is below the standard and should be rated lower. It is a pity to report negatively as the location is very central for exploring the area.

“On first impression cottage is lovely however, hadn’t been cleaned well prior to our arrival, alsorts under sofa, cobwebs on ceiling, dust behind doors in corners etc.”

Kitchen minimally kitted out for 4 people, no decent sized pans had to buy one. The bed in double room is listed as a king size which I always look for as myself and husband are quite tall. Bed frame is king size but the dreadful well past its best mattress is a double sat in the frame!!! Garden untidy, which didn’t matter too much to us due to time of year and not sitting out but could do with some tlc. This cottage could be so much better with a few little touches and attention to detail i.e shelf/cabinet in bathroom, loo roll holder, new mattresses, broken hook on bedroom door replacing, few more pots & utensils in kitchen & a decent clean between guests. I wouldn’t currently list this as 4 tick rating, but it could easily be. All this said we had a nice week, location for visiting wales is brilliant and the village is lovely, just don’t expect a warm welcome in the pub.... unless u speak welsh.

“The bad - mattresses were very uncomfortable.”

Bed sheets were bobbly and rough. Towels smelt as though they hadn't been properly laundered. No cabinet, shelf or storage for toiletries in bathroom. No shaver point for charging electric toothbrush. All these things could be fixed with a little more attention to detail. Cottage is in a pub car park next to the town's public carpark and a railway line, so there's noise. The good - clean, spacious and open plan living area. Powerful, hot shower and separate bath. Reasonable cooking and dining facilities. Central town location. Free Netflix. Dog friendly.

“The barn conversion is lovely but it is so minimalist it’s as if the owners couldn’t be bothered.”

I echo many of the negative comments found in other reviews and I would urge others to read them fully before booking this property. Firstly the noise. I knew the property was at the back of a pub and fully expected the noise associated with a beer garden. What we didn’t anticipate was music so loud we couldn’t hear the television or ourselves speak. There was a live band on Saturday night, and I understand this is a weekly event throughout the summer. Even our daughter complained she couldn’t listen to her own music through her earphones. On Sunday there was a disco that started at 4.00pm and went on until 10.30pm. Again, it was so loud, we could clearly recognise all the songs over the volume of the television. I did note during the week that the listing for the property was updated to reflect the live music but it still does not impress just how loud it is. Secondly, the private court yard is essentially a car park / building site. There is another property being converted opposite this which means there are builders there most days. On the one day it was sunny enough to sit outside (Sunday), the builders were working and the noise forced us inside. It should also be mentioned that the property is side on to the town car park where coaches park so you have them running their engines and reversing frequently. Other issues have been mentioned in other reviews: The sofa is past its best, there is no dishwasher (and there is plenty of room in the kitchen, there was one cupboard that just contained a high chair), there is a minimum amount of crockery etc, the mattress on the double bed is atrocious and there is no storage in the bathroom. The mattress was so soft that my husband and I felt like we would roll out the bed every time we turned on our sides. That said, we both slept well during the week. There wasn’t even a saucepan big enough to cook spaghetti for two people without breaking it (the spaghetti) in half. There were other little niggles too such as there only being one bedside lamp in both bedrooms, and in the twin room, this not even being next to the beds. There was one tall mirror in the double room but not anywhere practical so that I could do my hair etc. Also, the blind in the twin room and the hook on the back of the double room door were broken. It was really difficult to dry clothes. There was no washing line due to the building works and the airier didn’t cut it. The washing machine was loud. It’s a shame a small utility room wasn’t incorporated in the conversion. Like other people have said, the door was a pain to lock. It did require brute force. I have to say that I don’t think I have ever written such a poor review of somewhere. The property was clean, although the hoover had not been emptied. It was warm and on the whole comfortable. It was really good having parking and it was conveniently placed for shops and food outlets. We did have a really good holiday in terms of everything we did but after the first two nights, we were always on tenterhooks regarding possible noise. We didn’t have over the top expectations of the accommodation as we deliberately went for somewhere cheaper but it was still £750 and I don’t think it was worth the money.

“Great holiday home in an excellent location.”

Plenty of space including secure outdoor space which meant peace of mind with a 3 year old running about. Nice bathroom and kitchen and comfortable beds. Check in and out all very easy. Only negative points were that the front door was very difficult to figure out how to lock, we spent half an hour fiddling with it until we realised brute force was the only way to do it. It would be great if there was a dishwasher, and bigger towels.

“Didn't realise that they still have a on going barn conversion , patio door nearly impossible to lock .”

Patio windows needed to be cleaned . living area very nice , & bedrooms good , along with the bathroom . Living area , sofa needed a good clean , under seats very dirty needed hovering . kitchen area , needs a dish washer , oven needed cleaning , still had tin foil with fat in from previous guests on grill tray . Double bedroom , mattress had no protector cover , pillows stained , along with tea / coffee stains on duvet , ( all visible when I stripped bed on leaving , not good . Bathroom very spacious but short on shelves & towel rail . sink started to block up , on inspection plug hole full of hairs ( disgusting ) , along with toilet brush . Overall this property needed a good overall cleaning , maybe start of the season it also needed to be freshened up with a coat of emulsion .

“There were two things wrong with the property.”

The settee is very lumpy and the winder to the blind in the bedroom wouldn't work. Not a problem due to the lack of daylight. but could be very annoying during the summer months. The cottage itself is very well presented.

“The accommodation was nice and roomy, it was a good place to stay but there are issues with an uncomfortable mattress and minor things like cracks in all of the drinking glasses.”

We also found pieces of broken glass next to our bed on the floor. The big problem for us was the extremely high levels of music coming from the pub next to us. I have never experienced anything like it before and feel it should be highlighted more to potential customers especially for families with young children like ourselves. We had four nights of uncomfortable loud music that went on until midnight. On the first night I wanted to pack up and leave and on the last Friday night it was awful. We visited so many nice places and enjoyed North Wales but these issues darkened our holiday really and meant that we where tired in the mornings from lack of sleep. We had to witness men urinating against cars out of our kitchen window on the car park also. The barn is great and spacious with all that you need really but we felt that we couldn't leave our windows open for air as it didn't feel safe due to the location next to the car park. If I spend £800 on a weeks accommodation I don't expect to have these issues.

“A lovely property in a good location.”

The decoration and amount of space is great. The bedrooms and bathrooms are great and there is lots of space to spread out. The downsides are a difficult to use front door (instructions would improve this), the hob is not level making cooking difficult, the cutlery and crockery are very sparse, there is no vacuum cleaner only a mop, no guest book, and the pub next door plays loud music on a Saturday night outside until very late. The key collection arrangements are inadequate, our key was given to someone else. Having said that we really enjoyed the town, location and the property. With some minor alterations the mark would be higher.

Lots of plenty of places to eat and drink in walking distance,and you can take your dogs in. could do with new sofa, has it is a bit tired . Could do with some with some more cups and plates. The door to lock is very stiff and only my husband could lock it , hopefully it should be sorted for the next holiday maker's, has reported it to the owner twice now , over all a very pleasant stay thankyou.

“The outlook from the cottage is uninspiring, looking out over 2 car parks.”

The outside door is very difficult to lock, my wife couldn't do it.. The settee is very tired, cushions are very squashy making it very low. Overall the cottage is very nice, we had a very enjoyable stay.

“Location was a dispointment, we were aware it was in the town, but not aware there was a large car park and a railway right behind us.”

They could do with simple things like milk jug and sugar bowl, bread in and ironing board although there was an iron. Lovely inside and very clean. I must say a good base for travelling around.

“Place was a bit grubby and the bed was awful, if you sleep on the right hand side prepare to fall off the sloping mattress ( before you ask I'm only 10 stone).”

Accommodation is light and airy and the rain on the skylights is magical. We didn't notice any noise from the pub and the trains going past we're very loud. If they get a new mattress we would stay again.

Cefn Bryn Bach is a wonderful semi-detached barn conversion, one of two in a small courtyard position.

The smaller of the two, sleeping up to 4 people and arranged all on one level, so would suit guests who find stairs a little challenging.
