“Oh dear, Snowden View is in need of a little TLC.”

The outside is terribly unkempt. The website describes the key box as being behind the wall in the front garden. There is no front garden! There are, however, plenty of weeds. The outside walls are desperate for a lick of paint. The garden, which is across the road, is over grown so little chance of access to the mentioned summer house. The bins, also across the road, were overflowing. It's not all doom and gloom though... the views from the front door are spectacular; green hills to the right ...

The bins, also across the road, were overflowing. It's not all doom and gloom though... the views from the front door are spectacular; green hills to the right and the sea and ferry port to the left. There are some fabulous walks too, right from the from the door. We climbed Holy Mountain and walked to South Stack. Well worth it. The Breakwater Country Park is worth a visit too. It was nice not having to rely on the car to get to places. The house itself is reasonably comfortable and the kitchen/diner is more than adequate, with everything you could possibly need to cook family meals. It was nice to have a decent sized TV for a change, to relax in the evening after a hard days walk. The beds were reasonably comfortable but the pillows were dire - cheap and nasty. However, I always like to finish on a positive so I will say that we were not sorry we stayed at Snowden View because it was a great base for the things we wanted to do, mainly walking. I absolutely loved the location. Oh and it might be worth mentioning that the property is up for sale. Maybe relevant, maybe not...

The property

Two cottages have been blended together to form this wonderful hill-side retreat, laying in the outskirts of Holyhead and wrapped in open views.

The mountains of Snowdonia rest in the distance, with many walks that can be taken from the doorstop, and families will enjoy the peaceful setting.

Walk through the front garden and into the property, where you will find an elegant sitting room hosting two couches and an open fire.

The compilation of contemporary and traditional furnishings enhance the atmosphere, and there is a selection of books and DVDs so that you can feel right at home.

Just off from this, a large bathroom and just off this a utility room neighbours this for your convenience.

Moving round, you will enter the kitchen which features exposed beams and both a breakfast bar and dining table.

Gather with your friends to make the most of this delightful room.

A set of stairs lies to the side, which will take you up to a double bedroom, nicely appointed with an en-suite shower room.

Relax in the comfortable arm chairs, amongst the pine interior.

Then another set of stairs is attached to the sitting room, sweeping up to a charming single bedroom.

Another room holds twin beds which rest in an L shape, elevated by the natural lighting that falls from above.

Step outside to absorb the views of Anglesey and Snowdonia, or why not wander out into Holyhead, steeped in history, with golden sandy beaches and Snowdonia National Park just a 20 minute drive away.

A lovely cottage which can be enjoyed throughout the year.

About the location

HOLYHEAD

Trearddur Bay 3 miles.

The bustling town of Holyhead rests on the North West coast of the Isle of Anglesey, the largest town on the island and perhaps known best for being the main ferry port to Ireland. Steeped in history, the town boasts the remains of Roman town walls and forts, medieval burial chambers and stone village foundations. Explore the Breakwater Country Park, a former quarry, which offers designated walks through the grounds. The park is full of interesting wildlife, most notably the seals who visit the Holyhead coast, and outlines the amazing construction of the world's longest breakwater, some 1.8 miles, which today protects the harbour. Visit the colourful marina with its yachts and tall ships, or the town's maritime museum, with its tales of 100 shipwrecks in the vicinity. Day trips to Ireland can be enjoyed easily from here, with Dublin just 90 minutes away on the fast ferry. With spectacular cliff top walks over Holyhead Mountain, golden sandy beaches at the award winning Trearddur Bay and the Snowdonia National Park just a 20 minute drive away, this is a superb holiday location, at any time of the year.
