“What a wonderful cottage this is, they have re-stored the building beautifully.”

It was well equipped, warm and cosy. Well situated for visiting the surrounding areas and a pleasant walk into Llanwrst and Betwys y Coed. We were only here for 3 nights, but will definitely book again

The property

Nestled within the picturesque landscape of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, on the outskirts of the quaint village of Llanrwst, rests this delightful former farm building, The Shippon.

This contemporary holiday home offers an idyllic base for a couple looking for an intimate retreat to North Wales.

Stepping into the property, you'll be delighted by the fabulous contemporary yet traditional interior, beautifully-decorated with oak beams, exposed stone work and a rustic woodburning stove, inviting you to nestle in on the sumptuous sofa and enjoy a spot of television, enveloped in the warmth of the fire.

The stylish space boasts a gleaming kitchen, fit with all of the essential amenities, including a handy dishwasher, and homing an elegant island that takes center stage, where you can take perch on a stool and enjoy a glass of wine as the designated chef rustles up a romantic meal for two.

In the warmer months, take your dining experience outdoors with a seat in the gravelled garden, toasting a glass of fizz to an unforgettable holiday as you soak in the captivating views of the scenic mountains enveloping the dwelling.

As the day draws to a close, prepare for bed with a leisurely soak amongst the bubbles in the immaculate family bathroom, or if you'd prefer, enjoy an invigorating rinse in the spacious walk-in shower, before retiring to the snug double bedroom to rest your head under the intimate setting of the wooden beams that decorate the ceiling above.

Head off on foot to explore your surroundings, taking the short stroll into the heart of the medieval market town of Llanrwst, where you can discover the wonderful Welsh artwork on display at Ffin y Parc Gallery, followed by a spot of traditional afternoon tea at the award-winning Tu Hwnt I'r Bont.

Venture further afield to the nearby village of Betws-y-Coed, known locally as "the gateway to Snowdonia" where you'll find a fabulous selection of walking trails, boutique shops and traditional country pubs, along with the thrilling tree top adventure of Zip World Fforest and the unique tourist attraction and tea room of The Ugly House Ty Hyll.

Board the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Sherpa bus from Betws-y-Coed to the village of Llanberis, where avid outdoor adventures can tackle the challenging climb to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon), the tallest mountain in Wales, boasting breath-taking views across the scenic National Park as far as the Isle of Man.

The popular destinations of Conwy, Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are all within easy reach, along with the remarkable mountains, lakes and forests hidden within Snowdonia National Park.

With all of this and more, choose The Shippon as a base that you'll be delighted to return to for your next escape to Wales.

About the location

LLANRWST

Betws-y-Coed 4 miles; Conwy 10 miles.

Llanrwst is a thriving market town which stands in the beautiful Conwy Valley, only four miles from picturesque Betws-y-Coed, known as the 'Gateway to Snowdonia' and which is North Wales's most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. Most famous of all are the magnificent Swallow Falls, situated where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm. The village has shops, pubs, places to eat, miniature railway, a riverside golf course and the Woodland High Rope Activity Centre, and is home to The Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park Visitor Centre, as well as being the start of the beautiful Conwy Valley which leads to the coast and the lovely towns of Llandudno and Conwy.
