“We loved our stay at the Pennant.”

It is perfect for our little walking holiday with the dogs. Henllan was a beautiful quiet and peaceful village.

About the location

HENLLAN

Denbigh 2.5 miles; St Asaph 5 miles.

The small North Wales village of Henllan is situated between Denbigh and the Diamond Jubilee City of St Asaph. The village offers a shop/Post Office and a pub, which serves good food. St Asaph was awarded city status in 2012 and is best known for its magnificent white cathedral. In September, the city comes alive with the arrival of the North Wales International Music festival, which takes place across numerous locations, culminating for the last few years in a television finale, broadcast from the cathedral. Nearby Denbigh dates back to the 11th century and boasts the remains of a 13th century castle, perched on a steep hill above the town, with its stunning castle walls walk and commanding some superb views over the surrounding countryside. The town is seeped in Welsh culture and boasts itself as the home of many Welsh literary giants, including 17th century poet and author, Twm o’r Nant, famous for performing his light-hearted ‘anterliwtiau’ interludes or short plays in the area, famous 19th century printer Thomas Gee who established the well-known Gee Press works in the town, and more recently home of the ‘queen of our literature’, Kate Roberts. Denbigh is a busy little town, with a variety of shops and pubs, and a number of events including walking festivals, beer festivals, the Denbigh and Flint Annual Show, the Clay Art Potters Market and a monthly People's market. Henllan is a superb touring base for discovering the sights and history of the Clwydian Range’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, plus the stunning lakes of Llyn Brenig and Llyn Alwen, a haven for cycling, mountain biking, walking and fishing in North Wales. You are also within easy reach of Conwy, Llandudno, Snowdonia, Angelsey and Chester.
