“We had a lovely stay at The Barn, which was an absolutely lovely setting.”
It was a very comfortable stay in an extremely spacious building, but we found it a bit odd that the hot tub was drained without telling us on the morning of our departure (two members of our party had intended to take a half hour dip after breakfast) despite a gentleman saying hello to one of the girls, presumably whilst taking the plug out (she only realised what he was doing after he'd left). It was also strange not to have any hooks for hanging up dressing gowns and towels under the hot tub shelter as it was very wet our first night and we had nowhere to put anything whilst in the tub. A lock on the downstairs toilet in the hall would also be helpful with so many people in the house as we had a few incidents of people accidentally opening the door without realising people were in there! We could also have done with a back up loo roll in each room rather than just 1, which we've never seen anywhere else when we've gone away for the weekend as theres usually at least a back-up in each room. If we'd known we'd have taken extra as 8 ladies get few quite a bit! None of these things affected the enjoyment of our stay, we just mention them for future improvements- especially the thing about draining the hot tub without telling / asking anyone as we can see this has been mentioned several times in the reviews.
Thank you for your feedback. We provide a welcome pack with all the information required for your stay. It is on the memo board in the kitchen dining area. It clearly states under the hot tub info that 'your tub will be emptied during the early hours of your departure day'. Unfortunately we have to drain, clean, fill and then wait 7 hours for it to meet its required temperature available for the next guests. All our guests enjoy the hot tub and we always like it to be ready on arrival.
Our properties are self catering and we provide starter items incase guests have not had time to get essentials prior to their visit. All 5 ensuite rooms have soap and a toilet roll. We also provide x2 in the shared wc downstairs. In case on any emergencies we provide an extra on under the sink along with other essential extras including dishwasher tablets, bin bags, tea towel and cloth. Having liased with the cleaners the toilet roll under the sink was not used.
All the bedrooms are ensuite for your privacy and feel that a lock on the shared wc would be a risk as a lot of families stay in the barn and could potentially lock themselves in.
A few hooks under the shelter around the hot tub area is a very good suggestion and am looking into this.
Thanks again for your feedback and suggestions. Kind regards Julia.
