“The Hayloft is a quality barn conversion, comfortable, cosy and well equipped.”

With two good pubs nearby and lots of quiet country walks we did not use the car once. A most enjoyable week. Many thanks.

The property

Northop 0.6 miles.

A stunning, Grade II listed barn conversion, overlooking a spacious courtyard, opposite the owner's farmhouse on a picturesque farm, just ten minutes walk from the village of Northop in Flintshire and fifteen minutes' drive from the city of Chester.

Accessed up original covered stone steps, this delightful barn conversion is located above a row of barn outbuildings.

It is beautifully decorated and presented with a welcoming feel as soon as you enter into the open plan sitting room with woodburner.

The well-equipped kitchen with dining area is perfectly designed to provide you with all you will need for a memorable stay, and the two delightful and stylish bedrooms with sumptuous bed linen share a modern stylish bathroom with bath and shower option.

The owners have retained character features where possible including many stunning old wooden beams and the Grade II listed A Frame dividing the living space from the bedrooms and bathroom.

There is also a snug alcove providing a cosy retreat to curl up with a book next to the roaring fire and escape from it all.

Outside, there is an all-weather tennis court set at the edge of grazing fields which provides a unique location for an enjoyable game of tennis.

There is also a private lawned garden with patio terrace, Charcoal BBQ and garden furniture, where you can sit and relax with a cup of coffee and a good book.

The Hayloft is surrounded by beautiful countryside so why not stroll down through woodlands to the owner's lake, past the free-range chickens and enjoy the wildlife and scenery, before taking the 10 minute walk into the village to enjoy a drink or meal at one of the village pubs?

Wat's Dyke runs through the farm grounds and doorstep walks lead onto Wat's Dyke Path stretching to Holywell and the coast in one direction, and the Welsh Marches in the other.

There are lots of great walking and cycling routes from The Hayloft.

Perfectly located to enjoy all that the North Wales coast and Chester and its surrounds offer, this delightful cottage is superbly placed whatever you wish to do.

About the location

NORTHOP

Chester 12 miles.

Located 12 miles west of Chester, on the borderlands of Wales and England, Northop is a historic and pretty village, dating back over 1000 years, with a variety of architectural styles on offer along the high street. Developed as a result of its strategic position on the transport route between the two countries it thrived throughout the 17th century and still retains a delightful village feel, with three welcoming village pubs, a busy Post Office and general stores and several shops and businesses make up its centre, along with a village cricket club and reputable golf club. The Wats Dyke was built in the 8th century to protect the Welsh from invaders and now forms a delightful walk from Holywell along a 65km trail into Shropshire, cutting through the village and surrounding farmland of Northop. Be sure to visit St Eurgain's Grade I listed church in the village, eat at one of the village pubs and perhaps hear the award-winning Northop Silver Band rehearsing in the nearby band hall. With excellent access to both Chester and the North Wales coast on the A55, just 2 miles drive to the renowned Theatr Clwyd, fantastic country walks and cycling routes and several excellent golf courses in the area, Northop is an ideal base for exploring the many delights on offer in the region.
