“We have just returned from a week at this very pleasant, warm, clean and comfortable apartment.”
Despite its proximity to the busy A55 it was very quiet and it’s well located for taking the 22A bus into Holywell from the Brynford crossroads or walking 1 mile down the track and lane into town - note that it’s a long, steep climb back up, as we found on the one occasion we did it!

The lounge is cosy, the small kitchen is practical and well equipped and the bed is comfortable. The heating is effective and it’s remarkable how quickly the radiators warm up. The shower runs at a consistent temperature. The WiFi is reliable and fast enough. Due to the cold and rather dull weather we didn’t use the large conservatory but it must be a nice place to relax in good weather. There is ample, secure parking at the rear and it’s hidden from the track, which is a bonus.
The owner Christina is very pleasant, welcoming and helpful and left us a very generous welcome pack. We left on the day of Storm Darragh and she kindly offered to let us stay another night in order to avoid driving in potentially dangerous conditions. Although we declined this, it was agreed that we would either return by noon or ring to say we were returning if roads were blocked and we couldn't make any progress. In the event we had a very easy journey home. We much appreciated Christina’s offer and flexibility and, had it been snowing, we would probably have accepted it.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Brynford Pet Cemetery (booking essential), an average, cheap but acceptable meal at the Market Cross in Holywell and a superb and authentic Italian lunch at La Fattoria, Lower Bridge Street, Chester.
We had an interesting walk in the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park and a pleasant walk along the beach and through dunes from Talacre Beach to Prestatyn. Bus services in the area are rather good and, having Welsh bus passes, we used them extensively, never needing to use the car.
All in all, despite some poor weather we had a good week and can certainly recommend The Flat at Brwyn as a very comfortable and practical base for exploring the area.
Thank you for your great review and pointing out all of the positives aspects of staying in my Flat. I am so pleased that you managed to get to most places on the bus and you were able to get out and about on the mountain for walks. Thank you for recommending the Flat at Brwyn and I hope you enjoy your next holiday.
