“Such a comfortable well equipped Cottage which met all our needs.”

Loved the Portmeirion China lovely cushions and throws, felt so homely. Lovely short stoll to coastal path and harbour. Garden was an added bonus and did catch the sunshine. Had a delicious curry from the Glaslyn Indian in Portmadog, visited Portmeirion and also enjoyed a swim in Llyn Pardarn. Hope to visit again. Thank you. ❤️

“Had a lovely stay at Llannor, beds are super comfy!”

Which is a rarity in holiday homes. Well appointed kitchen and a great shower. We spent most of the evenings down at the beach. Tumble drier was playing up and a washing line in the garden would have been useful, but we managed with the clothes airer.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Llanor.”

The location for the cliff paths and beaches as well as an easy stroll into Porthmadog was perfect. The cottage was comfortable, quirky, well stocked and cosy. Everything we needed and the lovely bottle of wine that was left for our arrival was a nice added touch. The beds were comfortable with lovely snuggly duvets and pillows and the shower powerful and hot. Perfect. We will be back.

“Llannor is a lovely small cottage in a great location, 2 mins walk from the Wales coast path.”

It is tastefully decorated throughout, with comfortable beds. The kitchen is very well equipped with lovely quality crockery. Liz, the owner, has provided extensive local information on walks, places to visit etc, which was very helpful. It was just perfect for us.

“We had a wonderful week at Llannor exploring this beautiful part of North Wales.”

We only used our car once the whole week for a trip to Criccieth as we walked for miles each day in all directions - along the estuary, the coast, to Porthmadog. The weather was very kind to us for the time of year and one of us - a keen photographer - rose early nearly every day to watch the sunrise over the harbour. We also enjoyed a birthday trip on the Ffestiniog Railway, a meal at Yr Awstralia and chatting to locals as we watched the world go by in Borth y Gest. Can't wait to return! Diolch yn fawr!

“We had a wonderful time at Llannor.”

The cottage was very cosy, comfortable, immaculate and had everything we needed. An amazing base, close to everywhere we wished to visit, including the steam train which was an easy walking distance away. Amazing experience for us all, including our dog who loved it! Everything was close at hand and the harbour in Borth Y Gest was one of the prettiest we’ve seen and cafe overlooking it was great. Beautiful coast walks and bays a few minutes from cottage. “A lovely quaint old cottage in beautiful Borth y Gest.”

Small but clean and welcoming. Steep staircase with quirky sloping floors upstairs. Modern well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils, huge larder style fridge containing a lovely bottle of wine, with small freezer compartment, dishwasher and washer dryer. Double bedroom, with extremely comfortable bed, overlooking a lovely feature rear slate patio area with table, chairs and loungers, a further garden area with woods beyond. Twin bedroom overlooking the front. Parking is opposite the cottage. Borth y Gest is a lovely unspoilt village and Llanor is within easy walking distance to some beautiful beaches, Samsons Bay being our favourite. Close to the Welsh Coastal Path there are many lovely walks in the area. An ideal place spot, close to the shops and amenities in Porthmadog (just a walk around the bay and boatyard) and within driving distance of other picturesque places on the Llyn Peninsula and further south towards Harlech. Excellent easy communication with the owner.

Cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable. Borth y Gest is a very friendly place but it’s worth noting there is no local shop but Porthmadog is minutes away by car and a pleasant walk via the coast path. There is also an excellent bus service. Loads of lovely walks straight from the door and plenty of interesting places to visit if you wish to go further afield.

“Absolutely fantastic property, full of character and age, but with comfortable beds, lovely bedding and very warm, good shower pressure etc.”

Kitchen very generously equipped and with premium crockery, really a pleasure to use. Fantastic contact with the owner who is very warm and accommodating and real expert of the area (check out the cottage guide for walks, cafés etc). Fantastic location in the most stunning village and basically walking distance to Porthmadog (our best discovery was of a path along the shore both ways -to see amazing beaches or if you follow the curve of the bay and walk up between houses you will get to Porthmadog harbour (if you're not sure, ask at Sea view cafe). New cafe Bae Borth (?) really worth a visit, run by lovely Canadians - the chowder was out of this world, and great selection of cheese and local tipples to eat in or take away. 10/10, we'll be back!

“We had a great week and unbelievable sunny and dry weather made it even more enjoyable.”

The cottage was great - we particularly liked the very high quality towels, bedding, plates etc and we had everything that we needed for the week, and more! All super clean too, with easy parking in a lovely location close to the beach. Great communication from the owner beforehand (and provided in the cottage) and excellent recommendations for local cafes/restaurants/walks/sight seeing etc. A superb week and Llannor and Borth-y-Gest come highly recommmended

This little place had everything we needed for a quiet and relaxing stay. Clean and well-equipped, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are some lovely walks, in either direction, virtually on the doorstep. We walked to Portmeirion and also discovered a secluded bay in the other direction. Great late summer break.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here after visiting my parents staying at Llannor last September. We were the first guests in the cottage after the lockdown and it was beautifully clean and there were no signs of it not being used for months. We love the location of this cottage as it’s 5 minutes walk to the sea and we enjoyed sitting on the benches over looking the sea. A washing machine would be a really helpful addition to this cottage so that we didn’t have to return home with mountains of washing! However, there is no obvious space for it as the kitchen is fairly compact. Thank you for hosting our stay, we hope to return again!

The property

This delightful, stone-built terraced cottage is set in the pretty seaside village of Borth-y-Gest on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. This well-equipped character cottage is ideal for a romantic break or family holiday and offers cosy comfort with deep sofa, 2 armchairs, dining for four, king size double bed and two 3' single beds all with good light for bed-time reading.

There is a small enclosed front garden whilst at the back there are short steps leading to a sheltered garden - perfect for al fresco dining and relaxing with a good book.

A few more steps and gate lead to a grassy bank and woodland.

Just a short stroll from Llannor is the picturesque Borth-y-Gest harbour, the Wales Coastal Path and estuary headland offering breathtaking views.

Discover idyllic secret sandy coves and longer awe-inspiring stretches of unspoilt beaches including Samson's Bay and the epic Black Rock Sands.

The estuary teams with birdlife and is flanked by distant mountain scenery and the two historic castles of Criccieth and Harlech. This Borth-y-Gest cottage is the ideal base for exploring the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park with ancient castles, historic treasure houses and botanic gardens.

Leave the car behind to discover Porthmadog's marina, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland steam railways, the Italianate village of Portmeirion and myriad trails through ancient woodland.

Enjoy panoramic views from the top of 260m Moel-y-Gest over the seascape and the 18 hole Porthmadog links golf course.

For the adventurous at heart the thrills and spills of North Wales are close by, from deep cavern trampolining and the world's fastest zip wires to exhilarating mountain biking and white water rafting.

BORTH-Y-GEST

Porthmadog 1.2 miles; Criccieth 6 miles.

Borth-y-Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth-y-Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway?
