“A lovely property.”

Warm and cosy. Well equipped. Plenty of room for 6 adults and a toddler. Great location. Beautiful view from the rear of the property. Close to the nearby beaches without the use of the car. Would love to return.

“The property was in a good location for all our needs during the week There are a couple of things to note:- 1.”

One of the radiators in the second double bedroom was not working and was leaking. (we made Mrs Williams aware of this) 2. A. couple of ceiling lights were not working and the pull cord in the downstairs shower room snapped off when first used. 3. There was smell of damp in the lounge and damp patches were noticeable under the bay window. 4. Information about the property was minimal (not professional). Basically a couple of laminated sheets covering bedding, rubbish and recycling. These points are meant as constructive criticism.

“The property was perfect for our family getaway, and really convenient for the path to the beaches.”

The facilities were great, and ideal for sharing family meals and even washing the swim gear. The patio was lovely to sit out on and enjoy the views across to the Cob. Our only minor glitch was that we could have done with a stair gate for the steep stairs as our 20 month granddaughter was a challenge to keep safe. Another time we would ask in advance.

It has large, light, airy bedrooms and is very clean and comfortable throughout. The kitchen area is spacious and the view of the beach and mountains from the outdoor seating area is spectacular. A great base from which you can explore the area and enjoy everything North Wales has to offer. Borth Y Gest is a quiet village which is fantastic for young families, the locals are kind and friendly. Would absolutely stay again.

“Avondale is a wonderful holiday home with the amazing benefit of having three bathrooms!”

! The bedrooms are all light, airy and roomy with excellent beds and quality bedding. The en suite bedroom has the most amazing views across Borth y Gest, the Hard and surrounding hills and mountains! But it doesn't end there as there is a raised decking area with seating and table giving the same views when, weather permitting you can eat out and enjoy the vista. The kitchen and dining area are excellently appointed and very spacious. The lounge is relaxing and very comfortable. My family and I had a wonderful weeks break at Avondale and have nothing but praise for the accommodation which we would highly commend to all.

“Fabulous location overlooking the sea.”

Very well equipped throughout. Comfortable beds and clean property. Borth y Gest is very quiet and picturesque with 2 very nice Bistros Seaview and Moorings. Coastal walks to Morfa Bychen and Black Rock Ssnds for paddle boarding. 10 minute walk into Porthmadog which has plenty of shops and a nice harbour. We’ll be back I’m sure! We also had amazing sunny weather all week which was a bonus.

I would highly recommend Dylans restaurant in Cricceith for a lovely meal. On street parking was good for us during our week stay but during peak holiday times may be na issue due to visiitors and therefore not able to park outside property.

How if the property sleeps 7 + you could cook a proper meal with the lack of equipment we struggled to do xmas dinner for two. This house lacks a host who has any pride in their product. Or you don't care what type of owners you take onto your books.

A few more drinking glasses would not have been amiss, however, but I am sure that will be put right. The house is in a great location and we hardly had to move the car as some good walks, beach and Porthmadog, Portmeirion and Railway Station were all accessible.

“The house whilst in a great location was freezing when we arrived and therefore didn’t feel welcoming.”

We also had to clean the bathroom sinks due to small hairs around them. The carpets and lounge furniture are tired and old, but are clear to see in pictures. The facilities are good in the property and a welcome pack was there. We feel the place is in need of some TLC. It falls short of a standard we expect from Sykes; a company we have trusted and used many times before.

All promised facilities were there and we were comfortable and really enjoyed staying in the house. It is very convenient for exploring Snowdonia and the coast. The only small thing to note is that as there is only street parking and as the street is narrow owners of large vehicles might find it difficult. We were also concerned not to get in the way of our neighbours. However we had no problems parking and I hope did not inconvenience others.

“A wonderful location, with absolutely stunning views - we weren't expecting such a view and it took our breath away.”

People should be advised to take their binoculars! :-) A lovely spacious house with everything we needed. The only recommendation we have would be to have a few more instructions for practical things like what to do on bin day, where the fuse box is etc. (one of the lights tripped and and we had to hunt around in the dark for it!). Young families might be interested to know there's a playground just up the hill behind the street too.

“We enjoyed the holiday very much, in spite of disappointing weather!”

The cottage was well equipped for a family of 7 people. 2 things we'd like to see improved for another visit:- 1. The green rubbish bin at the back of the cottage was practically full when we arrived, leaving almost no space for our own household waste. 2. The oven has unusual, non-standard symbols, which caused us difficulty at first. We should like to see a simple guide to these for guests.

The property

A superbly located, Victorian bay-fronted, mid-terrace cottage situated in the unspoilt and picturesque seaside village of Borth-y-Gest, with views of Tremadog Bay, Borth-y-Gest bay and beach.

Encompassing the Rhinog mountains and the Wales Coast Path, the Ffestiniog Railway which crosses Traeth Mawr on an embankment known as the Cob, this is a fantastic area, with the spectacular countryside of the Llyn Peninsula to enjoy.

This cottage offers spacious and welcoming accommodation, with a cosy atmosphere, ideal for a family cottage holiday.

With four comfortable bedrooms and homely living accommodation, this lovely cottage has sea views from some rooms.

Patio doors leading out from the dining room will take you onto the terraced decking area which boasts superb sea views; an ideal spot for watching the boats in the bay or the sun setting whilst enjoying a refreshing drink.

Steps lead from the decking down onto a small lawn, which has a path leading towards the beach; a wonderful seaside escape for the whole family.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, with a fantastic links golf course only five minutes' away in Morfa Bychan, Porthmadog with its harbour and steam train can be reached in 15 minutes' along a coastal walk, or jump in the car and drive 10 minutes' to the superb Italianate village of Portmeirion.

This wonderful cottage will provide you with an ideal base to explore the delights of the area with your family and friends, any time of the year.

Porthmadog 1.2 miles; Criccieth 6 miles.

Borth-y-Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth-y-Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway?
