“Very happy with the cottage, clean and tidy, perfect size.”

Stays warm when the log fire is lit. Parking is not an issue. Quite isolated which what was wanted. No noise from either adjoining cottage. It was very difficult to fid initially, even with the instructions and the key lock was difficult to locate as it the back of the location instead of being near the front door. Easily fixed by mentioning to expected guests. Perfect cottage to use as a launching pad if you want to go walking in Snowdonia

“This property feels homely for a very enjoyable stay.”

Kitchen is well laid out with all that is needed to prepare your meals, could do with one more small saucepan. Lounge has two comfortable settees, tv and dvd player. The bedrooms have two very comfortable beds one being a double with a single bunk above. One cupboard in main bedroom used as a wardrobe. No coat hangers, luckily l take my own and have left five for over people. Bathroom has everything needed to prepare yourselves for your outings. Hot water is plentiful and instant. You have to drive everywhere but this is Wales with distances between places but the beauty is worth it. I would recommend this property for both adventures and a very relaxing break. Thank you very much Ray and Christine.

“The cottage is situated in a lovely location.”

Whilst the Inside the property was clean, staining to the sofas and the shower tray made it appear less so but it was comfortable. We agreed with another guest that the outside looked tired, it would be better to remove the broken garden bench as it was unusable and unsafe. When we arrived there was no welcome pack as mentioned in other reviews. Issues with lack of coat hangers and toilet roll were quickly addressed by the owner.

“The cottage is not a good one to stay at if problem with steps out side nothing to hold onto when are going down them To say it is for five people there was only four chairs needs more told about the cottage i will tell not to go anyone to it .”

Hi. There is fencing that can be held onto when going down the steps, although we have not found this necessary. There are five chairs in the property. The pubs and shops are open long days. We are not sure if the landlords agree to lock-ins. Please shut the windows when you vacate rental properties in future. Property Owner

“Lack of mirrors.”

No iron. We found it very difficult to put hot water on downstairs as you have to get on the floor and lean right into the cupboard which we struggled with. The walkway up to the cottage is far too steep to walk up with luggage . We were lucky that the Hotel in town helped us as we were on foot. We stayed at Hotel in town night before as had to rely on a lift back with our luggage. We had trouble finding it. The local contact number we had sent directions and taxi numbers and taxis have to be booked in advance. Myself and my group have used you every year and this is the only time we have had problems but we have booked already for next year but in one of the lovely Railway Cottages again.

I’m sorry you feel this way and am a little disappointed. Having spoken to you multiple times earlier in the week helping you with providing maps and numbers for taxi drivers, in fact I spoke to your taxi driver who had no problem finding the property she told me. On arrival you told me you found the property lovely. There are mirrors in the bathroom, main bedroom and the Lounge The switch for the hot water is not difficult to access Property Owner

The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well equipped with lovely views. It is a great base for Snowdonia, we visited Anglesey, North Wales coast, Bodnant Gardens and Portmeirion. We loved the walk into Betws and found the Pont-Y-Pair really good, , just cross the road and its a stunning walk by the river. Thank you for the Welsh cakes and milk in the fridge, very thoughtful. A visitor book would be a nice addition. We would thoroughly recommend the cottage and would stay again.

“We enjoyed our stay at Alwefryn and used as a base for some big hill days: Positives: - Property very clean on arrival - welcome pack of tea and Welsh cakes - Good location to access Ogwen valley/ Moel Siabod/ Snowdon paths - Washing machine very handy - Parking space - comfortable beds - electric heating performed well - Netflix (daughter) Cons: - Free sat on TV didn’t work and we ended up using a laptop in the evening (we did put in a maintenance request but the response was too slow to get it working before we left) - outside spaces could do with a some TLC - shower is tiny - if you’re a big lad like me then it is not comfortable - nowhere to hang wet clothes/ put dirty boots (part of the cottage’s quaintness….”

Thanks for your review We are sorry the TV wasn’t working for you, it was reported to us mid week. This has not been a problem before but has now been fixed. There is a drying rack and boots tray to the right of the door as you enter the kitchen. We are glad that you feel the heating system works well but, for obvious reasons, were disappointed to discover that despite a written request to the contrary, it had been left on when you vacated the property, and several windows left open. Easy to walk to town with lots of pubs and shops. We had a lovely weeks stay We could have done with an inside drying rack as we often came back soaking wet, but we managed Hope to stay again in the future
