The George III pub and renowned restaurant, full of character and history where you’re sure of a warm welcome, is located just across the estuary and makes for a nice evening stroll over the wooden Penmaenpool toll bridge which is Grade II listed and dates back to 1879, from here you can also join the Mawddach trail.
Close by there is an RSPB nature reserve, great for bird watching enthusiasts.
The serene ruin of CADW’s Cymer Abbey stands in a lovely setting beside the River Mawddach and is just a short drive away, well worth a visit.
Dolgellau is close by and has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus only five miles away is the renowned mountain bike centre at Coed-y-Brenin.
