“From a warm welcome including Welsh cakes and wine we enjoyed a peaceful comfortable stay.”

The cottage was well equipped and the sheltered patio was a great spot to enjoy the sea views and evening sunsets.Despite being on a working farm and quite close to a small caravan we still felt we had our own quiet private space. Y Becws is ideally situated to reach Barmouth the Mawldach trail Shell island Harlech and a choice of other beaches and mountains too. The only reservation l would give is the nature of the farm track would definitely not suit a low vehicle.

The property

Llanbedr 1 mile.

A delightful barn conversion with its own terrace and parking space with the owner's home situated 50 metres away and another holiday home nearby on a 200-acre Welsh working farm, one mile from Llanbedr.

The cottage has a slightly elevated position and is nestled between the dramatic backdrop of the Rhinog Mountain range and splendid panoramic views of the Llyn Peninsula and Bardsey Island out across Cardigan Bay to the front.

This delightful cottage is perfect for a couple looking for a relaxing and romantic get away from it all break and is an ideal base for you to explore this wonderful part of North Wales and the Snowdonia National Park.

Historically an old bakery, the cottage has been lovingly renovated with many original features retained and restored.

Through the heavy oak door a wonderful wealth of charm and character awaits you and you are immediately drawn to the large impressive stone inglenook fireplace with the original bread and baking oven, with a warming gas woodburning- effect stove on a raised slate hearth.

The living accommodation is open plan and the high ceilings extenuate the space, with exposed beams and purlins.

The cosy sitting area is perfect for snuggling up on the comfy sofa together to enjoy your favourite film with the warming glow of the fire to enjoy on those chillier evenings.

There is a dining area for those romantic candle lit suppers and a well-appointed kitchen area in which to prepare them.

The pretty bedroom is spacious and light, with a high ceiling and beams and enjoys a lovely outlook and the patio door leading out to a private courtyard is a lovely spot to enjoy that early morning coffee.

Completing this beautiful cosy cottage, the shower room boasts a hydrotherapy steam shower ideal after a day walking in the hills!

Linking the living accommodation and the bedroom and shower room is arguably one of the nicest hallways you’ll walk through; fully glazed on one side with French doors opening onto the private and sheltered courtyard where you can sit and relax with a chilled glass of something and drink in those fantastic views, watch the sun dip down into Cardigan Bay, or perhaps even enjoy a little stargazing in the night sky and reminisce over the day.

Here time passes you by at a more leisurely pace, and after a long day walking in the hills you can return to this peaceful little bit of heaven on earth and simply relax.

The pretty little village of Llanbedr is a mile down the road where there are two pubs, a village shop and a local butcher’s shop.

There are some amazing walks from the door and Cwm Nantcol, Cwm Bychan and the Roman Steps are all close by.

The beaches along this stretch of the North Wales coastline are beautiful with miles and miles of sandy shores and there are many cycling trails (cycle hire is available in the village) to enjoy.

This fantastic location also boasts good golf courses, medieval castles such as Harlech Castle just three miles away, the Snowdonia National Park and miles of stunning coastline.

This cottage is a superb romantic retreat from which to explore this delightful area all year round.

About the location

LLANBEDR

Harlech 3 miles; Barmouth 8 miles.

The pretty village of Llanbedr quietly nestles in ancient woodland between The Rhinogs, part of the Snowdonia Mountains, and the stunning golden beaches of the North Wales coastline. Situated next to the beautiful River Artro, and boasting a mild climate due to its unusual positioning behind the high dunes of a nature reserve, this charming village has an exciting array of wildlife and birds, handy local shops, bike hire and mountain walks on your doorstep, as well as two excellent pubs. The small town of Harlech is just 3 miles away and boasts the World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle, a majestic 13th century stronghold, the most impressive of all those built in North Wales by Edward I. Popular with golfers due to its famous Royal St. David's course, Harlech also boasts an excellent variety of amenities including some good quality restaurants and the most magnificent six-mile long sandy beach, perfect for wonderful walks and family fun. Nearby Barmouth offers the amazing Panorama Walk along the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, providing breathtaking vistas, which were described by John Ruskin as “the most sublime view in Europe” and also a harbour from which you can catch a ferry to Fairbourne for a ride on the miniature railway, or a boat trip out to sea to try mackerel fishing. With the delights of Snowdonia National Park and beautiful Cardigan Bay to discover, this is a fantastic holiday location at any time of the year.
