Chris “Very lovely.”
A really comfortable house in a beautiful setting. Well positioned for walking. We really enjoyed our stay.

Janet “Lovely except for two big things.”
The house needs some maintenance to fill up holes to the outside through which many mice were coming in. Numerous mice were seen in many occasions downstairs in the property. My enjoyment of the holiday was ruined by the fact that I arrived to find I could not swim in the lake, as I had planned to do every day. This was one of the main reasons that I booked the house. I checked the listing and it does not say it is a private lake. The fire did not work, although the owner had advised us of this the day before we arrived.
- Janet, July 2024Angela “Absolutely unforgettable, beautiful home, beautiful location, could not have been more perfect.”
Everything was quality and well maintained, super comfortable and will definitely be back.
- Angela, May 2024Alex “Really amazing place to stay in a beautiful location.”

- Alex, April 2024Thank you for your great feedback, we're so glad you had a wonderful stay. liz & ian Property Owner
Michael “We had an absolutely incredible stay and we couldn’t have asked for anything better!”
The place was super clean, the bed was comfy, the WiFi and sky channels were good and finally, the garden was just superb, the dogs really enjoyed playing in it and there were even tadpoles in the little pond! Will definitely be coming back!
- Michael, March 2024Thankyou for your wonderful feedback. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again soon. liz & ian Property Owner
Brenda “Second visit and the cottage more than lived up to our memories.”
All positive as for us, two adults & dogs, it was just what we wanted over Christmas. Our last visit was in late January and Dolgellau had seemed drab but at this time it was bright, alive and welcoming to visitors. The weather was as bad as forecast but truly awesome to watch from inside through the massive windows. We had one temperate day when we got to Barmouth beach. But … walking the lanes by the cottage in the howling wind and taking time to really look around me and take it all in, I was awe struck by the wild beauty, and, yes, will be back.
- Brenda, December 2023Hi Brenda, it was lovely to welcome you back. Unfortunately the weather can be a bit wild up here sometimes. However we love visiting in the winter and watching a good storm from inside the warm and cosy cottage! See you again soon liz & Ian Property Owner
Elizabeth “The location of the property was excellent.”
Amazing views and access to walking from the cottage really convenient. The cottage was warm, cosy, peaceful and relaxing However there were a few housekeeping issues which needed attention These were listed and left as requested by the owner. Generally there was a a feeling that the cottage inside and out needs a little TLC and that housekeeping cleaners give more attention to ensuring the kitchen and utensils were perfectly clean. This being said we enjoyed our stay and will probably return next year
- Elizabeth, December 2023Thankyou for your feedback, which we always welcome, good and bad. It's important to know of any problems you've experienced during your stay, in order to ensure all is good for our next guests. The issues which you mentioned have been addressed and the cottage has had a whole new coat of paint and is now looking refreshed and loved! Thanks again for booking your stay at Nant Y Gwernan. liz & ian Property Owner
Anne “A lovely property and very spacious.”
Just the dreadful weather stopped us from doing more.
- Anne, September 2023Sarah “Lovely property in a gorgeous picturesque setting.”
The fixtures and fittings were nice quality. Location was great for a short drive into the village for pubs and restaurants and there is easy access by road to surrounding areas and beaches to visit and some great walks. Bedding was good, pots, pans and plates were nice quality. Downsides - although well equipped generally there were a few omissions such as no wardrobe in the double bedroom or nearby for using which we had not expected. Although the bunks are described as adult we feel this is optimistic and our 5’8” son only just got in the lower bunk and couldn’t really get on the top bunk without bumping his back on the lamp/ceiling etc. There was surprisingly only one bedside lamp in the master bedroom, there weren’t enough wine glasses for 5 people, there was an issue with mould in the bunk bedroom (owners did try to clean this wall when we notified them) and master bathroom ( shower could have been much cleaner) and whilst the kitchens, bathrooms and bedding were clean the house generally felt as though it hadn’t been hoovered or had been hoovered after the last visitors but not freshened up before our visit (no idea which). There were other peoples socks in the master wardrobe, rubbish under the sofa in the extension and generally it needed a good vacuum to get rid of dust/debris/dead flies round the edges. There really was an issue with spiders/spiders webs in all rooms but particularly in the bunk room (owners said they were aware of this so not sure why it wasn’t dealt with) in the corners and the edges of ceilings/skirtings/under things which we hoovered three nights running to get on top of the situation. The house is a really lovely large cottage but had a slightly neglected air about it, with weeds growing up all the way around the house itself and a dead bird on the roof which was there on our arrival. I would recommend the property and the location is fabulous, but think the owners need to ask the house keepers to up their game. We appreciate, particularly in a rural setting there will be all sorts of creatures, but most of what we found was just careless house keeping. On a positive note, we had a peaceful break, with beautiful views of the lake and mountains from a lovely house.
- Sarah, June 2023Helen “Beautiful location and grounds.”
Very comfy beds. Good hot showers. Really well equipped. Loads of walking/hiking from the door- easy strolls round the lake, hiking up the pony path, or hike/scramble up the foxes path. Many other routes too. Wonderful quiet lanes, tracks and bridleways, including national routes for cycling.
- Helen, February 2023Brenda “If you are looking for a quiet chilled holiday with the most beautiful view through the window, this is for you.”
Lots to do without driving too far, spectacular scenery, challenging walks, some not so challenging, two beaches less than 30 mins away, what more could you want! The cottage, in Jan, was clean, comfortable, warm and beautifully decorated. There are no negatives about this place, just good luck finding it for the first time in the dark!
- Brenda, January 2023Chris “Had the most amazing week in this beautiful home.”
We were so comfortable and although the weather was atrocious we loved watching the lake through the huge windows. There is so much to do in the area and we look forward to visiting again.
- Chris, December 2022Lesley “Lovely comfortable cottage with gardens down to the lake.”
Peaceful location with no other properties in sight. Our dogs loved the lake, local walks and exploring further afield. We will visit again in a year or two.
- Lesley, October 2022Rebecca “Great holiday cottage and location.”
The cottage is well equipped and some lovely little touches with the dog treats, bowls, bed, fruit bread, kitchen roll, some dishwasher tablets / washing up liquid etc. The owner is really great at communication and there are lots of manuals / notes to assist in the working of the white goods / boiler / cooker. The decor and facilities are of a high standard and we loved the view from the house. We weren't able to do as much as we wanted due to a prior sprained ankle but we can recommend: NT - Bodnant Gardens Bala Lake - we had a 2.5 hour group canoe lesson Coed Y Brenin (Forest for biking and walking) Copper Mines & Beddgelert (great ice cream shop) Ffestinog Railway Food / Drink: George III Pub Royal Ship Cosy Fish and Chips Tafarm Tapas Norbar (Barmouth) for a sunny day / evening - food and drink with a chilled vibe and overlooking the sea We will be back as we loved the location and need to come back to do all the walks we wanted to do.
- Rebecca, August 2022Linda “Everything you could want in a very comfortable and well equipped cottage.”

- Heidi, March 2022Jill “We had a great stay, wonderful views with a nice, relaxed atmosphere.”
Lovely to have the sheep visiting the garden (good job we closed the gate). Good walks from the door (right on the edge of the National Park). All equipment, crockery and furnishing of high quality. Would stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again next year.
- John, March 2022Andrew “Beautiful and homely cottage.”
It was a wonderful stay with the family and the dogs and the country walks were breathtaking
- Andrew, January 2022Donna “Beautiful, well equipped cottage in a wonderful location with spectacular views and lovely garden which our 2 dogs enjoyed immensely.”
Great walks from the doorstep and 30 mins from Lake Bala which was wonderful for watersports and swimming.
- Donna, September 2021Linda “Lovely peaceful setting and good base to visit the many attractions of North Wales.”
Very comfortable house with quality furnishings and an attractive, well kept garden. It was thoroughly cleaned - one of the visibly cleanest houses we've stayed in which we were very grateful for. We would love to return one day.
- Linda, June 2021Ann “Beautiful house with fantastic view.”
Everything perfect.
- Ann, September 2020Erica “We had the most wonderful week at Nant Y Gwernan.”
What a very special house in a beautiful location. It was the most peaceful and relaxing place. We loved sitting by the lake, watching the heron and listening to the sheep in the valley (and no other noise at all!). The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The house is fantastic - with everything you need for your stay. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. We were so pleased to be able to bring our dog to such a lovely place. The owners even left a dog bed, bowls, blanket, towel and dog treats - which was just great and very helpful. The house is located very close to the Pony Path to Cadair Idris (walkable from the house) and also easy driving distance to several amazing beaches (Barmouth, Harlech, Fairbourne). We also walked along the Mawddach Trail, with a good lunch spot at the George pub, looking over the toll bridge at Penmaenpool near Dolgellau. This is a wonderful part of Snowdonia and the house is in the perfect location to enjoy the national park.
- Erica, August 2020Hayley “The owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable.”
Beautiful location and peaceful surroundings. Will be staying again from the moment you step through the door it's like home.
- Hayley, July 2020Norma “A really beautiful cottage with a beautiful setting on.”
A Snowdonia lake under the Cader Idris that you can walk up from the cottage. A stream half a mile down the road and beautiful lakes further along the lane perfect for cycling and exploring. Out in the Snowdonia countryside with Dolgellau 2.5 miles away for all your needs. Perfect!
- Norma, March 2020Deborah “Everything you could possibly want in a home away from home but everything was to a high end spec even down to the kitchen utensils.”
Fabulous setting. What more could we of asked for.
- Deborah, February 2020Stephen “The cottage is of a very highly standard - comfy and cozy throughout with amazing views.”
There are lots of local walks and the beach at Barmouth is a great place to take the dogs (summer restrictions apply). The Last Inn in Barmouth is lovely and is dog friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
- Stephen, November 2019Loretta “Absolutely amazing setting and cottage, home from home.”
Did not want to leave. All the luxury comforts one would expect in 5* Hotel accommodation plus more. This cottage is one to try and never forget! Exceeded expectations on all levels. This cottage would suit the Artist, Photographer, Walker, Climber, a great place to relax and more. Will be booking again.
