“The cottage is set in a gorgeous location with picturesque walks, although be careful of the farmyard dog at the beginning of one of footpaths, he chased us away and wouldn’t let us pass!”

The cottage is very comfortable and fairly well equipped. However, the property could benefit from a thorough clean, and there were no welcoming touches to enhance our stay as you usually find with places on Airbnb . Communication from the owner and Sykes was very poor—except when it came to financial matters. During our stay, the river overflowed, flooding the porch, hall, and lounge. Unfortunately, we received no communication or assistance (apart from a kind neighbour) regarding this ...

Firstly thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Penybont, I am very sorry that you had to endure one of the most awful nights weather this year in Mid Wales, and especially on New Years Eve, I have spoken with Sykes and they have confirmed that any communications were responded to as always, I however did not receive any emails or phone calls. The friendly neighbour you refer to I met Whilst cleaning the cottage for the next guests on New years day, and he told me that he offered to help you to install the flood gate, he very kindly holds a key and is happy to put the flood gate in place if needed, there are instructions of how to install the gate in the porch and is mentioned in the welcome pack information sheet, thankfully this is the first time the flood gate has been needed since I have owned the property, please except my apologies, kind regards, Richard. “We had a fabulous stay at Pen y Bont, what a beautiful cottage in the most idyllic setting.”

So quiet and peaceful exactly what we wanted. Breakfast on the decking was fabulous watching the antics of the numerous pheasants and red kites. Beautiful walks from the cottage. The Brigands Inn 15 min walk for excellent food and drinks. Would definately recommend for a peaceful walking holiday.

“The cottage is a cosy comfy place, nothing is too much and nothing is missing.”

It is surrounded by a beautiful nature. Being by the water is a very special feature to me, and this is as close as you can get to the river. The communication with the owner was very efficient and pleasant. I would highly recommend Pen Y Bont and hope to return there.

“Beautiful location, very scenic and close to some fabulous walks.”

Unfortunately the cottage is in dire need of a thorough clean and some TLC in particular the bathroom. On arrival I had to clean the microwave in order to heat up our previously prepared dinner! The cottage provided all essentials however and we did enjoy our stay overall.

“September ‘24 stay Penybont is a beautiful cottage set alongside the magnificent river Dovey The views are truly breathtaking.”

Penybont Cottage is comfortable and has everything one would need. We had a very enjoyable relaxing week here.. I set up my easel in the spare bedroom, and was inspired to paint a few pictures which now reside on my lounge wall. A beautiful reminder of our lovely holiday . Thank you - can’t wait to return we are going back in March 25

“Upon arrival the cottage was absolutely freezing - everything turned off, so we turned all heating on, lit the fire and went to the local pub for a meal.”

Still cold when we returned but the next day and the rest of the week we had it toasty warm. Enjoyed watching the river rising with the heavy rain we had, must have risen 6' to our arrival and were contemplating the flood gate - Not necessary in the end. The pipistrelle visited mid week and got some lovely photos of him(her) snuggled up to my thumb before placing in the hedge as instructed. No TV.was disappointing even though we were warned about this in the description, as the WiFi was excellent I would really suggest the owner invest in a newer internet/smart TV with Netflix etc for the long evenings. All things considered we had an excellent week and can really recommend the pub on the roundabout which is dog friendly too - Bonus. Thank you.

“Lovely cottage in such a peaceful and picturesque setting.”

If you stay here, you will have great walks, waterfalls, forests and the sea, all within easy reach. Wonderful dark skies too, just outside the front door! “On arrival we were informed that we had no hot water in the bathroom sink, for the entire week due to an on going problem with the electricity, this was due to be fixed the Friday we left.”

The bathroom needs a entire refit as it appeared mouldy, damp and unclean. Some of the sockets don't work in the sitting room and the bedside lamps in the double room didn't work either. Richard did however promptly sort us a new microwave, which was no mean feat in rural Wales, when the old one sparked and smoke came out of it !!
