Tywyn 7.3 miles.‘Swn Yr Afon’ at 23 Water Street is a pet-friendly beautiful Welsh family house located in the idyllic slate mining village of Abergynolwyn in Snowdonia National Park.

Enjoying a peaceful location right by the gentle stream, this is just the place to rest and recharge, perfect for families with young children and situated within a stones-throw of the village playground.

Swn Yr Afon works for the needs of all the family with space to be quiet as well as mountain and beach walks, biking trails nearby and fascinating Welsh slate mining history.

With an enclosed garden front and back and charming woodburning stove & open fire, Swn Yr Afon accommodates up to eight guests, ideal for a family with children or group of friends.

With a contemporary and spacious feel, spread out over three floors, there is ample space for everyone.

On the ground floor, there is a well-equipped kitchen/diner, complete with all the necessary appliances, with a large table seating 6 – 8 people.

The rear entrance with cloakroom and utility is ideal to use for dogs and walking boots when you’ve come in from a day outside.

In the evening you can snuggle in either of the 2 lounges and light a fire and maybe tune into a series on the Smart TV or curl up a good book.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms spread across the first and second floors and the family bathroom with shower and bath.

Relax in the huge king-size bedroom located at the top on the second floor with double ended views up the valley or choose from one of the three tastefully furnished double, bunk or twin bedrooms on the first floor, all with plenty of storage.

The house is fully equipped to a high standard with hi-speed wifi as well as high chair and stair gates which is perfect to meet the needs of a diverse group including remote working if required.

From your base at Swn Yr Afon, you can take the Talyllyn steam railway from the village to the coast at Tywyn, explore the coastal towns of Aberdovey and Barmouth or renowned towns of Dolgellau and Machynlleth.

Aberdovey is a charming seaside town with a selection of independent shops, eateries, and pubs and Dolgellau is a bustling market town with a charming character and a rich cultural heritage.

For those who are more adventurous, there are many walks directly from the house and fantastic mountain bike trails at Coed Y Brenin plus Cader Idris mountain to climb, all nearby.

The tranquil town of Tywyn lies on the sweep of Cardigan Bay, perched on the end of the imposing Cader Idris mountain range where the landscape tumbles into the sea on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. The promenade and town are all on one level, ideal for that gentle evening stroll by the clear blue water of the Bay. Shopping in Tywyn is a pleasure, with a regular open-air market, and local shops offering a wide range of local produce and gifts. The proximity to mountains and sea means the town also offers a wide variety of activities, from mountaineering to surfing, and the area offers leisurely rambles through the beautiful countryside. Slightly further afield lie the towns of Dolgellau and Aberdovey (with its golf course), while attractions such as Harlech Castle, Llanfair Slate Caverns and the Talyllyn Railway, together with the sandy beaches of the Cambrian coast make this an ideal location for a relaxing break.
