“Lovely property, comfortable and everything provided for your stay.”

Also very convenient being attached to the Post Office with a well stocked shop. Hawarden is a lovely village and the people very friendly. Hopefully will visit again.

“We had a great stay at the Old Sorting Office.”

“We had a fabulous stay.”

The cottage was so homely and comfortable with everything we needed, including Welsh cakes and barra brith! The hot tub was great as was the secure garden for our dogs. Wonderful walks on our doorstep, and a fabulously warm welcome at the Fox and Grapes across the road where they serve delicious meals and lovely cold beer. We'll definitely be back.

“Lovely spot .”

Quaint and unique property and would definitely recommend ( and have done so ) to friends . We will wish to return as had to check out after one night due to unforeseen circumstances. Only comment from key instructions is to prompt guest to check spam folders for email . We didn’t ! Ended up phoned on day .. small thing

“Very nice but the stairs are unsafe.”

Clearly not dog friendly they need a backing on each step and carpet to stop slipping. A stair gate could be an option. The patio needs relaying with non slip slabs but it is also very uneven. Wall paper should be taken off as in places it is bubbling. The wall could be replastered and painted. With a small amount of work this would be a top venue and would warrant a higher price. I would return

We were disappointed that you left such a poor review for The Old Sorting Office of only 3 stars as you had told us you had enjoyed yourself for the week you were here.We are very proud of what we have achieved and it upsets us if we feel we have not given our guests a lovely stay .The old sorting office is a grade 2 listed building so we are restricted in many areas in what we can do but we have sympathetically restored it to the best we could . I would like to clarify some of these points with you though Overall you say the cottage is very nice and speaking to you and your wife on several occasions you were enjoying yourself and thought our holiday home was lovely . You did mention that you thought the stairs were unsafe for dogs . We are dog lovers ourselves that’s why we welcome dogs to our holiday home but we politely ask you not to let them upstairs or on the furniture . Unfortunately you did both. When you booked the cottage the description and pictures says open tread staircase and warns you of this but you still booked our cottage . The patio is laid with very old slabs and listed as part of the character of the cottage when wet the slabs may be slippy and we have several signs warning you of this . The garden is fully enclosed and private it is a courtyard garden which can be clearly seen on our pictures . If this is not suitable for your dogs this is your choice as there is no lawn. Wallpaper bubbling in parts, this is a 1767 property which is part of the character being grade 2 listed there will be some imperfections not all walls are straight and smooth ,I’m sorry if this is not to your taste . We always try to go above and beyond to ensure our guests have a great stay . Unfortunately The Old Sorting Office it seems is not for you or suitable for your dogs . you did say how great it was to have an open free park to walk them in across the road . We were shocked after such a poor review you said you would return again Property Owner

“Highly recommended .”

Just had a fantastic short break. The cottage is a home from home, extremely clean, a well equipped kitchen, and an amazing hot tub and enclosed garden was great for the dogs. The little touches (tea, coffee, milk, bottled water, bara blith and Welsh Cakes) a really nice thought. The only thing to note are the taps in the kitchen are the wrong way round hot tap is on the right.

“Had a great stay at this lovely cottage.”

Couldn’t fault anything, very clean, comfortable and very spacious. The extra treats were a bonus, Bara Brith was so yummy we bought more from next door to take back with us. There was a lovely walk for our dog on our doorstep, Howarden Old Park, very scenic and vast. The hot tub was great for relaxing in, great for the aches and pains, it was so good we are wanting one!!

“Really nice place to stay, hot tub is wonderful even if I did mess it up.”

don't press the silver button. recently refurbished to a mostly high standard, (I also refurb so am really picky) Great selection of glasses although be aware not all fizz glasses match which might leave one of you with more fizz than the other. The towel are so lovely I went out an bought some for myself. The mattress is soft, I had just had a proper twinge on my back so it was rubbish for me, but others might appreciate it. only downside is the parking, it is a dedicated space which is well labelled, however people ignore this and park in front, this happened on consecutive days, not sure how to resolve this

“Overall a lovely quiet place in a lovely quiet village.”

Walks on the doorstep, with to good pubs that allow dogs and serve food. The Farm shop 3/4 mile a way is well worth a visit.

“This cottage is a hidden gem and I loved my stay.”

Very cosy and comfortable with everything you could possibly need to enjoy a relaxing break in the historic village of Hawarden. There is plenty to see and do locally and then enjoy a relaxing evening in the beautiful little private garden included a soak in the hot tub. The cottage is very clean and well maintained and the Post Office next door has everything you need including delicious cakes. I will definitely be back.

“Lovely quirky little cottage.”

Perfect for two people. Off road parking behind the property. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you will need. Hot tub is lovely and the back garden is fully secure for dogs. Perfectly located for Cheshire Oaks and Chester. Lovely dog walks locally. The Post Office next door is very handy. Would highly recommend The Glynne Arms for food.

The hot tub is clean thoroughly after each use and chlorine is an effective water sanitiser which is important because it reduces the likelihood of being exposed to bacteria and we use the correct guidelines and amount for this hot tub. The Old Sorting Office is a well-presented holiday home located in the lovely village of Hawarden in Flintshire.

Tucked away behind a post office, this property is perfectly situated for a romantic retreat while giving couples easy access to the village centre and amenities.

Walk into a spacious open-plan living space where you'll find a sitting area with a beautiful feature fireplace you can sit by as you watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV, cook up delicious meals to enjoy dinner dates in the dining area, then let the food settle with a warm soak in the hot tub where you'll get lost in deep conversations and gaze up at the stars.

As the day winds down, take a rinse or a bath in the bathroom, then slip under the freshly-washed linens of a double bed to catch your rest.

HAWARDEN

Mold 2 miles; Chester 7 miles.

The former Saxon settlement of Hawarden sits on the Anglo-Welsh border, just seven miles west of Chester, and is steeped in history. Home to three castles, including a 13th century roundhouse ruin, as well as an 18th century manor, where part of the grounds are available to the public to enjoy with a pretty walk through Bilberry Wood. A third romantic keep can be seen at nearby Ewloe, hidden amongst the trees in the attractive estate of St David’s Park, and is well worth as visit. During the 19th century Hawarden was a thriving market town and many traces of its history can still be seen in the architecture along the main street, which today offers a selection of amenities including cafes and pubs. Hawarden Airport is in nearby Broughton, home of Airbus, where you can sometimes see the mighty Beluga aircraft taking off across the Cheshire Plain. With excellent access to Chester and the North Wales coast, Hawarden is an ideal base for exploring the many delights on offer in the region.
