“We had the best UK holiday at Tan Twr than we’ve had in years and have already booked to go back there next year.”
Hilary and Mike are lovely friendly people as is their gorgeous dog Paddy, they stop and chat on passing, leaving you to enjoy your stay but are readily available to help if anything is needed.
The location is so quiet, all we could hear was nature in both the day and night. Even the nearest “main” road has hardly any traffic on it.
The extensive views from the cottage towards Snowdonia are simply beautiful and were really interesting to study through binoculars. Often there was dramatic cloud clinging over them yet the sky above Anglesey was blue and clear.
The cottage was super clean, spacious and light and airy, with comfortable furniture. it has basic equipment but we managed fine. The dual aspect windows in the lounge made us happy to stay inside and chill on the hot days, meaning that we really felt that we were on holiday (previously we’ve stayed in dark cottages with small windows which make me feel too enclosed).
Our two boisterous collie dogs loved it there too. After all the beach and forest walks, they were suitably worn out on every evening yet we’d drag them back out for 10pm beach walks which is a lovely treat in June.
We simply can’t wait to go back.
I will list below the extras that we will bring next year to make our stay perfect:
Collapsible camping chairs to take out with us and use in the garden (the cottage has a wooden table and chairs only)
Garden parasol (as I have a big estate car)
Lightweight single duvet (I’m at that age lol)
Steak knives
My Chef’s knife- there are knives there but I missed my super sharp large one
Coat hangers (extra needed for my clothes I think about 12 are provided)
Glass pan lids (probably just me as I’m not used to solid lids or ceramic hobs, I kelp losing heat lifting to check)
We’re looking forward to exploring the rest of the island next time. We were amazed at how gorgeous the island is as we’d only visited specific places previously or quickly passed through heading for the port for a trip to Ireland. It’s a bit like Cornwall but calmer, both inland and on the coast but without the hoards of visitors, travel is really easy and nowhere is far away. Thank you Hilary and Mike, we are so glad that we came and will see you again soon
