“As a family of four adults plus one dog we found this property to be ideal.”

It was clean, well laid out, lots of thought given to extras such as a drinks cooler and large fridge freezer in the garage. We all enjoyed our time there. The weather was excellent so we made full use of the garden and bbq. It's also close to the coastal path leading to a lovely beach. We aim to return.

“Stunning place, immaculately clean!”

Our second visit to Tamarisk in 4 months and just as good as last time. Lovely welcome pack including treats for Angus the dog. We were there for 2 weeks and the owner arranged for the bedding and towels to be changed after the first week, a lovely touch. The house has everything you could wish for and is in a great location. One suggestion may be to add some small glass tumblers in the kitchen as all the glasses are large, but only a minor point. We are about to book to come back again later this year.

“Beautiful bungalow, decor and furniture modern and immaculate, equipment etc excellent, super enclosed garden with views of sea, drive easy to access , quiet area, close to beach, immaculately maintained , exceptionally clean .”

There are a number of steps around and inside the property and it's not a walk in shower so not ideal for someone with mobility problems, but other than that it's a lovely place for a quiet unspoiled holiday , we really enjoyed it, thank you to the owners for allowing us to stay there.

A little issue at the start but was resolved very quickly and efficiently. All facilities were great the only thing I would mention is the bath towels weren’t big enough for adults, they definitely need to be bigger, but apart from that it was a brilliant stay and will be returning.

“What a fabulous holiday cottage, one of the best we have stayed in and that is praise indeed as we have stayed in numerous cottages over many years.”

Everything was absolutely first class. Spotlessly clean, furnishings beautiful and beds and linen so comfortable. Everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The outside garden was lovely with long distance sea views. The only comment on the outside I would make is that a handrail up to the decking would benefit those not so mobile and young children. The garden was safe for our little dogs (Norwich Terriers) but larger dogs could maybe vault the wall The beaches are wide and safe and line the coastline. Moelfre is a lovely village with fabulous sea view walks on the coastal path. All in all a wonderful holiday and we plan to return to Tamarisk in 2024.

“The property is very well equipped and of a high standard.”

I especially liked the fact that you could see the sea from virtually all windows (excluding the bathroom). The property is well located in a quiet neighbourhood and a short walk to the village and coastal path. The only downsides for me were that on arrival, the settee and 2 upholstered chairs (living room and sun room) had quite a lot of white dog hairs on them. My 2 dogs were not allowed on the furniture, and in any event are hypoallergenic (non shedding). Further, the garden wall at the rear makes the property insecure for anyone taking dogs, (be warned) it is not sufficiently high enough to deter them from escaping. On the morning of my second day, both dogs got over the wall and were missing for over an hour. It was only due to the fact my brother resides very close that we were able to find them. Overall though, it is a lovely property and I would return.

As you are aware, the rear garden is enclosed with a perimeter wall approximately 3 feet high. For this reason we do not advertise the garden as being secure for dogs. “The property is immaculate, spacious and well placed in Moelfre.”

The decor and quality of everything in it is fantastic. It is very well equipped. The views are stunning from every viewpoint and a perfect place to relax in your surroundings. The location is lovely and quiet, with easy access to walks and in a few strides you can be at the sea. I have never experienced such a clear view of the night sky! We got a day of great sunshine so walked the coastal path to Lligwy. We got a day of rain so had a place to relax all warm and snuggly. The owners have a fantastic property and we are so grateful to have been able to share it! Thank you.

Everything that you would need is provided. Bed and bed linen five star so comfortable. Outside space well kept and enjoyed the decking with the views. Living areas spacious and comfortable. The only two points I would change is swapping the tv’s in the living room and conservatory and the bath could have done with being a full oblong and not shaped. Other than that excellent!

So quiet with views across the sea yet a short walk to the RNLI and coastal paths, or in to the village for a stop at the cafe or ice cream shop. Thank you for such a lovely stay. “We had a wonderful time at Tamarisk!”

The cottage is clean and sleek but still feels homely. The only room which was not cleaned to a high standard was the breakfast/ sun room, which had dog hair round the skirting from the previous guests. Tamarisk has everything you need for a really enjoyable stay. We had coffee every morning on the outdoor terrace (even in the rain!) because the view was so pretty and the garden was perfect for our little dog who loved pottering around it. The real bbq was great too. It’s just a short walk down to the coastal path or the village centre. The only real negative was when the landscapers interrupted our lie in and worked noisily in the garden for an hour, even walking past the bedroom window. Although it was 11am, they really should have asked permission. Other than that, it was perfect and we will definitely be back! Thank you for some amazing memories Tamarisk.

It is in a quiet little area and very close to the coastal path which is ideal for daily walks. The owners have obviously gone to great lengths to ensure that the house and its gardens are perfect, I’m not sure that we could have found any faults if we had tried, everything about it is done to a high standard. This was our second stay in Moelfre, in a different Menai holidays home, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the friendly atmosphere of the town. I have no doubt that we will return and would use Menai holidays and Tamarisk again.

“It is a FAB holiday cottage hence the 4 stars, gorgeous interior - perfect location, lovely neighbour on the left (rare find lol!”

) BUT DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY - we are totally fed up of cleaning these Sykes Cottages on arrival and we are not cleaning freaks in any way. Dirty sinks, unclean loos, human hair everywhere, fridge handles yuk, toothpaste splattered from the previous people, dog hair everywhere, dusty floors, bathroom tiles around bath area generally horrific and need a blast - it is not acceptable and we don't want to have to call and moan when we get there to find a place as dirty as our last 2 holiday rentals, as it spoils the holiday and we don't want a cleaner in as we have 2 kids and 2 dogs and it is an intrusion, it should simply be clean on arrival. Like a hotel would be, for the same price or cheaper! We are fed up now of this standard of cleaning and it's not fair when you pay so much money

As you will have seen from your stay at Tamarisk, we, as owners, have spent a lot of time and money preparing the property to a high standard so as to give guests the best holiday experience possible. This includes sourcing and selecting the right management company to clean and maintain the property on our behalf. We take the cleanliness of the property extremely seriously, as do the company who clean and maintain it on our behalf. The feedback you have provided is extremely surprising to both ourselves and our management company as this is completely out of character with feedback provided by other guests. As your feedback has been provided 3 weeks after your arrival at the property it is very difficult for both us and our management company to investigate this matter. We have asked Sykes/Menai Holidays to contact yourselves to ask for any photographs of the standard of cleaning you experienced to enable us to investigate this matter further. We await your response. We would encourage all guests to report any issues they find with the property, including the standard of cleanliness immediately so that they can be dealt with straight away. We absolutely love moelfre and to have this gorgeous gem of a bungalow with sea views was just amazing. The decor of the place was completely to our tastes and very well done and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable and had everything we needed. Particularly love the garden area, one morning we had cuppas on the decking whilst watching the sun rise, absolutely priceless! One bit of constructive feedback would be to provide bigger bath towels for drying your body when getting out of the shower/bath as the ones provided are pretty small. Other than that very minor point, absolutely faultless and wonderful stay! Thanks

“The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and has recently been very stylishly refurbished.”

I particularly liked the thoughtful way the decking had been done to enable beautiful sea views while relaxing outside. The cottage had everything you needed in abundance, beds very comfortable, lounge comfortable and larger than it looked online and it was an easy walk to the village shop or a quick walk to the harbour in the centre of the village. If I had a criticism it would be about the bath towels - a bit on the small size for adults! They had also been washed with a softener which made them less absorbent. Dishwasher tablets, squeezy and bin bags also available. One word of warning - avoid Anne's Pantry in the village unless you are prepared to pay an astronomical £3.00 for a cup of tea!

Very well equipped - except we couldn’t find any towels! Because the listing says includes ‘bedding and towels’, I only packed one small hand towel and one beach towel. So we had to spend a fair bit of our holiday money on buying towels!! I hope this can be put right.

It's in a very lovely condition and such a spectacular view looking out at the sea. We will definitely come again and highly recommend. Enjoyed every day with a variety of pretty places to visit. I have autism, but that definitely did not stop me from enjoying myself as such a friendly, peaceful, tranquil, amazing place. We have a Norfolk terrier called Robbie and he loved going for walks at the seaside and around a nice neighbourhood.

The property

Situated in the picturesque village of Moelfre, Anglesey is Tamarisk, a contemporary, single-storey cottage boasting views of Lligwy Beach and the sea.

Suited to a family, the cottage offers a toasty woodburning stove for the cooler months and a delightful garden for the warmer months making it an ideal base all year round.

On arrival, park your car in one of the off-road parking spaces and make your way through the well-kept front garden and into the cottage.

Make your way into the sitting room to snuggle up on the L-shaped sofa and watch the Smart TV as the woodburning stove warms the room.

From here, utilise the kitchen for your self-catering requirements and whip up a delicious meal for your family.

Gather at the dining table in the conservatory to discuss your next day of adventures over dinner; the conservatory also hosts an armchair and another Smart TV should you wish to escape for a couple of hours.

When sleep calls, head to the bedrooms to rest your head; the cottage offers a king-size and a triple bunk, a convenient setup for families.

Completing the interior is a family bathroom with a bath and shower over, giving you the option of a quick rinse or a long soak after a busy day.

Take advantage of the outdoor space in the warmer months and admire the sea views from the egg-shaped swing seat before cooking your meals alfresco on the barbecue.

If you don't feel like cooking on evening, take a stroll to the Kimmel Arms for some traditional pub grub and a pint or two.

For days out, explore some of the ancient ruins nearby including The Lligwy Cromlech shows historical ruins of a burial chamber consisting of enormous stone slabs and Din Lligwy, the site of a Roman settlement.

Make your way into Beaumaris, home to Beaumaris Castle, renowned as being 'the greatest castle never built'.

For a touch of history, tour Beaumaris Gaol, a former prison which is now a museum showcasing an insight into the history of the prison.

A short car journey will take you to Penrhyn Castle and gardens, a Neo-Norman piece of architecture with an industrial railway museum as well as an impressive painting collection.

If you are travelling with younger guests or animal lovers, be sure to visit the Anglesey Sea Zoo to discover a world of sea species in a beautiful setting.

Lligwy 2 miles; Benllech 2.5 miles.

Situated on the beautiful east coast of Anglesey, Moelfre is a delightful seaside village, boasting little cottages, a picturesque port, a beach, fine views of Snowdonia, a working lifeboat, and two quality pubs/restaurants. Visit the hugely popular local Seawatch Centre, enjoy fishing or watching sea birds, seals and even dolphins, or discover wonderful cliff-top walks with stunning mountain views. The village has many historic links, the most recent being the site of the tragic Royal Charter shipwreck in 1859. There are stunning sandy beaches nearby, at Benllech and Lligwy, and the lovely Red Wharf Bay, with its miles of open sands and birdlife. A perfect location for travelling around this lovely island and throughout beautiful Snowdonia.
