“Nice bright with lots of space.”

This cottage suited us perfectly for a relaxing stay. Went down the road to Anglesey sea salt Booked a seaweed barrel. Well worth it. Lots of wild life on your door step. Newbourgh warren well worth a visit. Visited Dylan’s for Meni muscles . Certainly will be returning.

“We could not have wished for a better location- the views from the cottage are spectacular.”

The cottage is decorated well and we had a really comfortable stay. The only issue was that there is some damp which encourages couple of slugs and some wood lice in. Overall, we were really pleased with the cottage and will definitely return.

“Amazing location just off the beach, very quiet and relaxing.”

We were there with three young children and they liked it. It's right next to the Sea Zoo and Foel Farm too which was handy on rainy days. Caernarfon Castle is right opposite the house too across the Menai. Lovely house and the Welsh tea and welsh cakes on arrival were great too. A dishwasher would have helped us as we were a group of 6 and the house was a bit damp in places but we would love to stay again and it's easy to explore all of Angelsey from here. Newborough beach was amazing and close by and we also spent a few days on the beach at Bennlech and Trearddur Bay too. Would recommend, great peaceful location!

“Mermaid Cottage is in a wonderful position with amazing views from the garden and the lounge.”

We were a family of 5 (with 2 children aged 10 and 7) and gran, and there was plenty of space inside and out. The lounge and master bedroom were very comfortable, but the ensuite was a bit smelly and needed work. The main bathroom was modernised, but the sink drained extremely slowly and the bath mat was frayed. The mattresses on the single beds weren't supportive and not ideal for grans aching back. We needed to swap 2 around and found that they could do with replacing. The kitchen and utensils are in need of a revamp. The house has a damp problem and we found a slug in the bedroom and on the worktop in the kitchen during our stay. All things that I am sure are on the owners radar, and it looks like they are being addressed slowly. There are a few inexpensive things that the owners could do to help guests. It would help guests if your property information was up to date and in an information folder, rather than scattered around the house. The wi-fi leaflet is out of date. A housekeeping book would also be useful. As there is no dishwasher a small supply of washing up liquid and cloths would be extremely helpful. There is a picnic bench in the garden but nothing comfortable to sit on to make the most of the amazing views and enjoy the space. Info said that there were garden chairs in the shed, which was incorrect. We found 2 wooden chairs but they were broken. We were informed that towels were not provided, but they were. Constructive criticism rather than complaints, as we all enjoyed our stay and I think that the price of the cottage is fair, considering it's wonderful position.

Thank you for your feedback - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We were disappointed to read that you found the single beds in one of the bedrooms uncomfortable. This is unusual as most guests say they find the beds very comfy. All beds in all of the rooms were replaced with new beds and mattresses less than 2 years ago. We note you weren’t able to find washing up liquid or a cloth at the cottage. These are normally stored in the cupboard underneath the kitchen sink - we will ask the cleaners to check these are present for future bookings. We do try to make sure guests have a contact number for the housekeeper so that we can quickly replace any missing items or to answer any questions guests may have so that their stay is as comfortable as possible. “Lovely place, really clean, all the facilities you need and a quite incredible location.”

Only recommendations would be to add blackout blinds to the main bedroom (blackout curtains are too far from the window and let in lots of light) and a different mattress. We have a Simba at home due to my back and shoulder issues and so this is an issue with all holiday accommodation we visit. Bed was reasonably comfortable but just didn't support me the way I need it to

“What a lovely Christmas we had at Mermaid.”

Wonderful views, crazy weather from wind, rain, thunderstorms and sun, but what a view to take it all in. Property comfortable and cosy. Lovely bedrooms. May need a little attention to the heating and ventilation in cooler weather as the outer rooms get cold. Overall a fantastic stay and would love to go in the warmer months and enjoy opening the patio doors for the view

“A beautiful location with great views across the Menai.”

The only thing I would mention is the water pressure to the en suite shower was rather excessive and probably needs altering. Maybe include a visitors book in the property for visitors to include where they've been and share their experiences, e.g. Supermarkets, places to eat, best places to see red squirrels, etc... Also, include a folder with operating instructions. We found the cooker instructions in a drawer in the lounge. We had a lovely week with great weather. Thank you.

“Beautiful property with stunning views across Menai straits to Snowdonia.”

Recently refurbished, the property was almost brand new, only the kitchen to update to keep up appearances with the rest of the house. I would recommend this property to people who like walking, fishing, painting, and watching the world go bye whilst relaxing. A great place to explore Anglesey, Snowdonia, Caernarfon, Llandudno and North Wales. 3 minor issues for the owner, skirting board by door in hallway rotted and slugs entering house, had to but salt down the hole to stop them entering.You need a bigger TV, with freeview, no point in having Sky tv with just terrestrial TV available, provide a hoover or a full size brush in order for guest to clean the wooden floors. That said thank you for sharing your property, it is absolutely beautiful, would come back in a heart beat

“My 5 year old son cried when we had to leave!”

Gorgeous little cottage in a beautiful location. Very clean and nicely furnished. Lovely views from the French doors which I enjoyed a coffee from most mornings. The only thing I really wished there has been was a long handled brush for the wooden floors and we struggled to find the bins for the cottage. We used a neighbours who left the same day we did. Despite searching for the recycling bins we were unable to locate any for mermaid cottage.

“The situation of this property is unbeatable.”

The views are amazing and the new living area really lovely. The main bathroom was great but the sink empties slowly in the ensuite. Whilst adequate the kitchen needs updating. The lower oven didn't seem to work and there is a smell in the cupboards. Also info about the recycling would have been welcome. Overall though very happy. Thankyou.

Refurbished for this year it is in very good condition, and well presented. We took food with us as there are no shops nearby, although we did see neighbouring properties receive supermarket deliveries. I particularly liked the visits each evening by the hedgehog! It would be useful if you could provide a long handled dustpan and brush to allow easy and quick cleaning of the hard floors in the property!

The facilities and views were excellent. The only downsides were check in and out times, the 9-30 departure and the 6pm check in means you actually loose the best part of a day. Suggest a 10 am departure and 3pm arrival would be more appropriate.

“Overall we absolutely loved our stay and on leaving immediately looked to rebook (fully booked until September unfortunately).”

However despite numerous reviews mentioning the broken outdoor furniture this has still not been fixed/replaced which was very disappointing as obviously the feedback is not being actioned by the owners. Our only other criticism was the check in-check out times and the cleaning expectations of guests ‘due to covid’. Check in not until 6pm and check out by 9.30! Presumably to allow for adequate cleaning between guests, except the list for cleanliness to be completed by the guests was outrageous given the check in/check out times. We booked with Menai holidays last year just after the rule change to allow overnight stays in your family bubbles and the check in/check out times weren’t even this late/early in the height of the pandemic. We could check in from 3pm and check out by 10am, with much less cleaning expectations placed on the guest. In my opinion the new check in/check out times alongside the new cleaning expectations for guests mean you lose a day of your holiday. It feels very much how can we make more money whilst providing less. I feel this is a bit of a liberty by the property letting company especially given the more acceptable times during the height of the pandemic . Otherwise we loved our stay, loved the property, we have always had excellent experiences as repeat bookers with Menai holidays and would both recommend and use again, however the check in/check out times plus cleaning expectations did disappoint, alongside the property owners lack of attention to previous feedback about the garden furniture. It gave an impression of not being overly bothered about renter feedback as long as bookings continue to be made.

The views are amazing. The cottage is clean and comfortable and well stocked (nice glasses, plates etc). Sadly the coffee maker wasn't there due to the covid clean up. The washer dryer is amazing (no dirty washing on the way home). The bathrooms are luxurious, especially the nice power shower in the en-suite. If I had any complaints they would be - The lack of an instruction book for the cooker and the tired leather suite in the living room (I think it was the same one that was there 10 years ago). Other than that absolutely amazing holiday home.

The cottage was very pretty from the outside, and had a lovely garden filled with butterflies and birds - and again exceeded expectations! Inside the cottage was very clean and had a superb bathroom and facilities. The only small thing it lacked was probably just a couple of ‘welcome’ bits, such as tea, coffee, etc. There was nothing that was complimentary or left as a ‘welcone’ - but that might be my expectations as the last cottage I booked had a welcone pack and lots of essentials that was really appreciated on the day of arrival.

“We have holidayed at the cottage for the past four years, it really is lovely.”

Ideal location and we've had wonderful times here. I'm really sorry to moan but the heating wasn't realistic, it didn't come on and it was cold and a little damp so we had to use the electric heaters on occasion (it was July!). There really should just be a straightforward way of watching tv. If sky is not on offer it really is annoying that you can see all the channels but not watch them, freeview would be so much less frustrating. Lack of Wifi is a major problem now, it really does make life difficult for self employed people like myself, plus we were with our teenage "kids" this time and it was almost like their oxygen had been taken away! it really is classed as a "utility" like gas, electric & water these days. We absolutely love Anglesey and especially mermaid cottage, it's well maintained, we've never had a problem, always clean, a joy to holiday in.

An ideal family holiday home, Mermaid Cottage is a single-storey cottage overlooking the Menai Strait and the scenic coast of Anglesey.

Be welcomed into an airy kitchen housing many home-from-home amenities, including a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, perfect for a brew with a seaside view (please bring own pods). The living room includes a charming set of leather sofas, a space to dine with the family and stunning seaside views maximised through the French windows.

From here, you can enjoy a picnic on the lawn with picturesque views across the water to Caernarfon Castle, and beyond that, Snowdonia.

There are three bedrooms to choose from, including a double bedroom with an en-suite and two twin bedrooms, accompanied by a family bathroom featuring a corner bath, ideal for warming up after a day spent at the beach.

The local area of Brynsiencyn has plenty to do, beginning with scenic walks and Traeth Llanddwyn beach only a short drive from the property.

Anglesey offers many places for bird watching and a local golf course, as well as visits to the Anglesey Sea Zoo, Foal Farm park and restaurant, a chocolate factory and the Tal y Foel riding centre.

There is also easy access to magnificent castles, including Beaumaris and Caernarfon castles, ideal for history lovers.

A small village nestled on the banks of the Menai Straits on the Isle of Anglesey. Brynsiencyn is small yet delightful, hosting a shop, Post Office, a lovely village pub, a cafe and a takeaway. The village boasts some incredible views towards the delightful town of Caernarfon over the Menai Straits and even the dominant Snowdonia Mountain Range in the distance.
