“We arrived at the property after 5pm (Monday 24th august) as instructed by the owners due to ‘COVID deep Clean’ measures.”
The property for the parking lot was not ideal, extremely tight and finding it also took its time. When we arrived into the property there was a very musty smell. We were greeted with the rules and regulations on everything we needed to do it it’s regards to the bins & recycling. The bins were not empty and advised that they needed to be emptied before we left.
Due to having a 3 year old who wanted to play on the floor with her toys we noted instantly Copious amounts of black dog hair on the rug in the front room and around the table, within half hour of arriving we were cleaning which was certainly not anticipated with the price and the late arrival time. (Photos taken of dog hair)
The top bedroom had coffee/tea stains on the bed and bedding ( photos have been taken).
Overall the property was not clean and needed aspects updating ( stair carpets and some bedroom carpets specifically )
As for the area it was not overly pleasant and was done amenities there was not much to do. This all resulted in 3 members of the party leaving and driving home almost 3 hours within 24 hours. The rest of the party left a day before was due to the issues in the property and the lack of things to do.
Overall we have booked many properties using Sykes cottages and other sites and this was our worst overall experience. We will be making a further complaint as the cleanliness of the property in this current climate was defiantly an issue.
We would like to explain that the recycling bins are emptied by the Council on Thursdays, and so on a Saturday when changeovers normally take place, there will be stuff in the bins. Similarly, the general refuse bins are emptied every 3 weeks. The instructions on how to find the property make it clear that the access to the parking space is very narrow, and turning can be a problem. Unfortunately, this is out of our control. The weather leading up to the stay had been very wet, which probably explains the musty smell that was detected, but we do try and ensure that the house is thoroughly aired on changeover days. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our property, as evidenced by other guests' feedback and can only imagine that there was a malfunction on our vacuum cleaner to cause the dog hairs to be left on the rug and floor. The cleaners have been briefed about this, and we will ensure that there will not be a recurrence. With regard to the stains on the bed linen, we obviously wash bed linen after every guest, and so we can only assume that the stain was very feint, but again we will be on the lookout to ensure that there is no recurrence. As for the lack of things to do in the area, we strongly refute this. Some attractions may have been closed due to Covid restrictions, but normally there are plenty of things to do in and around Caernarfon. We welcome positive criticism, and we take guests' comments very seriously. We are very sorry that your stay at Ty Castell did not meet your expectations.
