Albert “The cottage is very well appointed in terms of household goods and furnishings.”
Although we ate out there are plenty of kitchen utensils and facilities to prepare meals. There is a great view from the lounge and balcony across the fields to the sea. The actual location of the cottage is a surprise when we found it in a commercial yard that wasn't evident from the booking photos. The running noise from the refrigeration units in the adjacent building may be annoying to those sleeping in the closest bedrooms. A couple of minor negatives mentioned only to assist the owner: The cottage guide needs to be updated to reflect there are no laundry bags available, a mention that there is underfloor heating on the ground floor and a clearer guide to the operation of the TV and Freeview Box would be helpful.

Derek “Once again we had a fantastic holiday at Glan Yr Afon in Church Bay, Anglesey.”
The cottage was as previously, clean and comfortable, also well placed for getting around the island. I can not finish any comment on the cottage without recommending the Wavecrest Cafe in Church Bay excellent food and service.
- Derek, September 2024Ianthe “I slept in the twin bedded room and found that I preferred sleeping facing the window!”
Access to bedside table lamp was made easier and I liked to see the light coming through the window in the morning. With the window open and the curtains opened, I could hear the birds singing and see the hedge, much better than a bare wall
- Ianthe, September 2024Stacey “This is s beautiful property in a great location.”
Immaculately clean throughout. The kitchen has pretty much anything you might need if you want to cook. My only complaint is that the kitchen table only seats 4 people but the house sleeps 5. The view from the huge window upstairs is amazing. It was nice to sit out on the small balcony in the evening and watch the sunset. We loved that it was only a short walk to the beach too. :)
- Stacey, August 2024Thomas “Lovley cottage great views!”
Very clean and everything we needed! Short walk to beach.
- Thomas, August 2024Suzanne “We had a thoroughly enjoyable week.”
The cottage was very comfortable with a fabulous view. We had no problem parking, there was a dedicated area for the cottage. We will definitely be back.
- Suzanne, July 2024Ianthe “This holiday let is perfect for a family or adults.”
We were 3 adults, and so had a room each. The kitchen and lounge are well equipped with stunning balcony views across the fields and sea, the sunsets being a special bonus! We chose this cottage for it's wonderful cliff edged beach, with sand, rock pools and safe swimming. The clifftop walks, birdlife and flora are of great interest to us too. The nearby heritage cottage museum and gardens, and cafe by the beach make this a great attraction for all. If the local authorities could make the beach dog free during peak holiday time, we would welcome this!
- Ianthe, September 2023Mark “Mark .we've just come back from this property it was great beautiful views of the sea and countryside very clean and modern the only thing to spoil it was the privacy the staff at the lobster pot restaurant park about 6 motor bikes by the cottage and stand chatting by them which is right by the cottages open garden and they also park in your parking space odd days other than this the place is beautiful”
- Mark, May 2023Lee “This is a lovely 'upside down' cottage with beautiful balcony overlooking farmland and the sea.”
It is exceptionally clean and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Perfectly situated for the coastal path and the north of the island. We will definitely be back!
- Lee, April 2023Lisa “Lovely place to stay, beautiful views from the living area.”
The place is comfortably furnished and clean. During our stay the restaurant adjacent to the property was quiet, in the summer it could be busier and there might be a lack of privacy felt by guests.
- Lisa, March 2023Jill “We have been visiting Anglesey yearly for the past 10 years and have to say this was the best by far.”
The views were exceptional and the comfort of the cottage was like home from home. We had the best time thank you.
- Jill, March 2023Susan “Great location so close to the beach and fabulous, elevated views across the fields and the bay.”
Modern, high quality fixtures, fittings and furnishings throughout and everything spotlessly clean. A wonderful place for a peaceful break and to access the Welsh Coastal Pathway.
- Susan, September 2022Clive “A good quality property with everything that we'd expect.”
Just missing a teapot, which the owners provided immediately on request. Thanks.
- Clive, September 2022Lee “This was our third stay at this lovely little cottage and it was just as enjoyable as the first time.”
We love the panoramic view from the huge windows and the balcony, where we enjoyed watching the sunset with a glass of wine. The cottage is immaculately clean, well equipped and comfortable and is in a good location close to the beach at Church Bay and walks along the coastal path. The Lobster Pot restaurant is next door and the Wavecrest cafe very close by. The owners of Glan Yr Afon are friendly and helpful and are easily contacted if required. We would thoroughly recommend both the cottage and area for a stay, although we are reluctant to share this as we'd like to keep it to ourselves!
- Lee, September 2022David “We have had a fabulous week in this great cottage with wonderful views.”
We had everything we needed and for us it was a perfect location. Our host was very friendly and helpful when we made a request, nothing seemed too much trouble. A chilled bottle of wine on arrival was most welcome too. We made the most of the lovely weather and walked miles of the coastal paths (absolutely stunning!) and cycled the (mostly) quiet roads. A visit to The Lobster Pot was a perfect ending to our holiday. Book early, as it’s definitely worth a visit! We can highly recommend Glan Yr Afon! Thank you. Gail and David
- David, July 2022Ian “Glan yr Afon the house was very clean and well kept and has everything you need for a self catering holiday the views and sunsets from the balcony are amazing.”
You need to be very organised when it comes to essentials as the nearest shop is about 2 miles away, the cafe the wavecrest is really nice but only opens Thursday to Sunday. We walked the coastal path in both directions and the views are amazing. Didn’t eat at the lobster pot as we are not seafood lovers but very convenient restaurant. So the nearest place was the valley about 10 minutes by car has lots of take aways and restaurants. Definitely recommend this place Thanks
- Ian, June 2022Ruth Alison “The property was everything we hoped it would be and more!”
We could not have had a more perfect holiday. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We were very lucky that the weather was fantastic so we really did see the property at its best. I think, if the weather had been poor, there are probably better places to stay on Anglesey as this was a bit of a drive away from the majority of 'tourist attractions' but, if you just want somewhere comfortable, quiet and restful with good facilities, it would be hard to beat! The only small niggle was that there were a couple of lovely dogs allowed to roam freely between the properties and, consequently, we sometimes found they had fouled the path to the cottage and the cottage picnic area. Quite how you deal with that without having to chain the dogs (which wouldn't seem fair), I don't know. The owners were around and very pleasant without remotely impinging on your privacy. Couldn't recommend highly enough and wish I was still there!
- Ruth Alison, June 2022Alan “Loved the cottage and the balcony view.”
Really well equipped. Perfectly situated for the beach.
- Alan, May 2022Mark “A pleasant property in a lovely pat of the world.”
The two issues we had were dealt with promptly and with smiling faces. A little constructive criticism : A few pictures, perhaps from local artists would make the place feel less clinical. Leaflets detailing local attractions would be helpful. We felt patio doors leading in the main bedroom and leading out onto what is essentially a pub garden was a little odd. Brick up and replace with a window or create a defined border between the two properties. warn people that restaurants and bars are not open 7 days a week.
- Mark, March 2022Fiona “Loved my stay here!”
Comfortable, clean, well-equipped and stylish accommodation in a great location. Beautiful stretches of the coastal path 2 minutes away.
- Fiona, January 2022Joanne “Highest standard of cleanliness and attention to detail in the property.”
Amazing location.
- Joanne, September 2021Helen “We have just had an amazing holiday!”
The location is perfect and the accommodation is superb. We will be booking again next year
- Helen, July 2021Sophie “Lovely accommodation in a great setting and a perfect base for holidaying in mixed British weather!”
Very clean and comfortable. We loved the 'glass wall' westerly views across the headland to the sea, and the easy access to the beach and the coastal path.
- Sophie, June 2021Michael “Great location just a few minutes walk to the beach - and the Anglesey Coastal Path.”
Panoramic glass wall the length of the living/kitchen area provides views over the sea to Holyhead. Property itself is high spec and well appointed.
- Michael, May 2021Martin “This is our second stay at Glan yr Afon and we have booked for next year.”
The location is superb. 100 metres to the beach and coastal path, a restaurant next door and a cafe two minutes away. The cottage is very comfortable and the view from the balcony is amazing! Glan yr Afon is an ideal base for discovering beautiful Anglesey.
- Martin, May 2021Catrin “Just the most idyllic setting and you could not want for more welcoming people.”
The cottage is laid out beautifully with stunning views. Everything you could wish for and more. We’ve visited lots of small bays completely off the beaten track and bathed in glorious sunshine - lucky week! Comfortable beds, clean cottage and with the bay at the end of the road what more could you wish for. We will be back!
- Catrin, April 2021Martin “We booked Glan Yr Afon mainly because of the location which was 100metres from Church Bay where I spent many Summer holidays with my family.”
The accommodation was excellent in every respect. It was warm and spotlessly clean. The view of the sea and hills from the balcony were amazing. We were a two minute walk from the coastal path and we did different walks on four days. Unfortunately we left a couple of days early as the Welsh National lockdown was due to start. We are going to book Glan Yr Afon again for early next year and can't wait to visit lovely Anglesey again. Communication with Nia the owner was also very good. She was very helpful
- Martin, October 2020William “Super accommodation in a beautiful location.”
Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Very happy!
- William, October 2020Annette “Fabulous cottage with great views and very comfortable.”
