“This has the potential to be a fantastic cottage, it is well situated for exploring the area with good views.”

The cottage is well equipped, although let down by many chipped mugs and the towels had bad bleach stains on them. Main issue was cleanliness of kitchen - had to clean worktops, hob and freezer before using and also clean washing machine. The rest of the cottage was clean, good wood burner and tv. Utility room needs attention, sink dirty and lots of clutter. The other issue is that the decor is very tired, nothing a change of wall paper in the bedrooms and a lick of paint everywhere would n't fix. Carpets are good quality but in need of a shampoo. Bit of TLC and it could easily be 10 out of 10.

The mugs need to be thrown away if chipped There are 20 mugs and 90% arn’t chipped Carpet was shampooed last week. Sorry about the worktops will talk to the cleaner about this As for the towels They must have been bleached in the cottage as I never use such products when doing the laundry. It’s been a very busy season and I agree that there are parts of the cottage that can do with some freshening up. Property Owner

“The property is very tired, paint peeling off the walls in the sitting room and lounge.”

Carpets filthy and old, sofa has lost its spring. You sit on it and basically sit on the floor. Fridge smelt and was dirty . Oven was dirty. Kitchen bin disgusting Had to buy cleaning products to allow us to use oven. Bedrooms had cobwebs and spiders. Thick black cobwebs hanging from bottom radiator. Only room ok was the bathroom, although when we arrived the floor was soaking wet as the skylight had been left open and it had been raining all day! Overall very disappointed with our stay. Location was ideal for using as a base to dorms most of time out.

“Extremely dusty, tired with filthy carpets.”

Positives: location, bathroom was acceptable Negatives: everything else This place was not only disappointing but bad for my health. It was so dusty that it set off my asthma. We were shocked at the lack of care and cleanliness of this place. The place was extremely dusty and smelt of damp. There were thick cobwebs everywhere. We went out and brought cleaning products and candles but this did not help. The bedroom was so dusty that we could not sleep in there. We contacted the owners first thing in the morning but they offered no solutions. In the end my OH decided that we needed to leave and book another property as I was so unwell and he was worried about me. We told the owner but they didn't even offer a partial refund despite still having 2 more nights booked. We did manage to book a lovely clean place in Llanrwst and left this place .behind.

“The cottage is spacious with stunning views of the mountains and a lovely alcove to sit in to enjoy the views as well as very thick seat windowsills in the bedrooms.”

There is every thing you need in terms of cooking utensils, comfy and various seating, outside spaces, and the property is in easy reach of Bangor, Llanberis and Anglesey, so perfect for sightseeing. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in north Wales. Our group was aged from 6 to 57 and everyone had a good time.

The bathroom door does close properly and I have never heard anyone complaining of the cleanliness of the cottage before. My cleaner does a grand job . The cottage is a three bedroom one bathroom property which is perfectly clear in the description. Property Owner

“We had a lovely family holiday at Haulfryn, the scenery was outstanding, there wasn't a better and more convenient place to stay for walks and climbing.”

It was right in the centre of the best parts of Snowdonia. The owner was very kind giving us cakes and treats on arrival and the house was lovely and clean with everything to hand. The only drawback is that because of a van parked always at the entrance to the property it was a tight right-angled turn on a very very steep hill into the driveway, sometimes I could only just squeeze round it. The house also, is at the top of a long and very very steep hill, with only room for one lane of cars, and with having to stop often multiple times on the way up and reverse park to let others up or down, so be aware if you are a new or nervous driver. The locals seem to do it all fine, but if you are not used to it, be aware. Not at all the homeowners fault, but it did affect our holiday. One other thing - it only has one toilet in the one bathroom, so if there are 5 or 6 of you staying, it did get difficult. (Especially if you aren't the same family and want to be polite!) This was the main thing that affected us. There was nowhere to go if someone was having a bath etc, and with 5 or 6 people it made it difficult. Other than that, it was a lovely relaxing house and a gorgeous area to stay. All other comforts were made for us and we loved it.

Close to lots of great walks and places to visit in North Wales. Some modern features some old which we found great. Beds are really comfy and plenty of room in the cottage for 6 people. Well worth seeking out

The parking was really good and welcome as it was up a steep hill! The welcome of a fire ready to light and a bottle of red was just what was needed after our foggy journey to Snowdonia.

“Fantastic location with beautiful views and a short walk in to town where there is a tesco express, various takeaways, a few pubs and range of shops.”

The house has a nice outdoor area, ideal for a BBQ and benefits from off street parking, which is good as the roads are quite narrow and on a steep hill so its good the cars are protected off the road. This is a really comfortable property with plenty of space and it is well furnished for a ‘home-from-home’ feeling. It would be great if a second bathroom was available but the single bathroom within the property has a good size bathtub and a power shower. Also a bonus that is is within walking distance of Zipworld and snowdonia hiking trails.

Haulfryn was perfectly located for our zipline experience and central to lots of lovely places to visit. Please note- the house is located at the top of a very steep hill but this means that the views are spectacular. Also, the Douglas arms is mentioned on the website however we would not recommend at all. It’s a very small uncomfortable room with no music, atmosphere or heating! The lady behind the bar was nice though. Better to walk slightly further to the other pubs down the road. This would be a lovely property to enjoy anytime of the year with a log burner in the living room and also lovely gardens and views.

“The cottage was lovely, in a good location and the views (when it stopped raining) were stunning.”

However, I would comment that although the cottage sleeps 6 people the "adult bunks" were not really suitable for my 6'3" son and his girlfriend (aged 23 and 24); they did not find them too comfortable and would probably be more suitable for teenagers than adults. Also the bathroom, although very nicely done, was extremely small. Otherwise the facilities were good and we enjoyed our stay.

“This cottage was beautiful!”

The pictures don't do it justice. And the views are breath taking! There was 6 of us staying and the cottage felt big enough that we didn't 'step on each others toes' The mattress was so comfortable also - better than my own at home! We loved reading the details/history of the cottage from the owner. There was tons of information on how to work everything so we didn't feel the need to contact the owner for any help! Milk, butter, tea and coffee were available on arrival - after a 4hr drive this was a god send! Only thing to note is the entrance to the drive way - 6 adults and a roof box in a Mazda made our car very heavy and we scraped the bottom of the car entering the driveway!! We found it best for everyone (bar driver) to exit the car before entering so the horrible scraping sound didn't occur!

A delightful semi-detached cottage situated in an elevated position above the old mining village of Bethesda, bordering the Snowdonia National Park.

At the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain range, in magnificent North Wales, this splendid cottage has been lovingly restored to provide a warm and welcoming environment in which to holiday.

Haulfryn, (Welsh for sun hill), provides the perfect accommodation for a family or a group of friends looking to explore all that this beautiful region has to offer.

Step inside into the spacious dining area and walk through into the bright and airy sitting room, offering comfy furniture and a warming woodburning stove set in a slate-and-stone surround, ideal for relaxing after a day adventuring along the North Wales coastline.

The modern fitted kitchen benefits from a utility area with washer/dryer and Belfast sink, ideal for storing wellies and walking boots alike.

Upstairs, the three bedrooms have been lovingly furnished with both comfort and convenience in mind: there’s a luxurious king-size double with plug sockets incorporating USB ports, a double and a set of adult bunks, along with a stylish family bathroom.

To the side of the property, there’s off road parking for three cars, plenty of room for all the family, and to the front there is a cheery porch where you can enjoy the morning sunshine with a cup of coffee whilst you admire the dramatic views across the valley to the former Bethesda slate quarries.

Venture outside to the rear of the property and you’ll find nine steps leading to a private enclosed patio.

This spot is a real sun trap where you can make the most of the afternoon sun with a good book and a cup of tea.

Just a ten minute walk will take you into the village of Bethesda where you’ll find a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants spread along the bustling high street.

Closer to home, the Douglas Arms, an award-winning CAMRA listed pub, serves a fine selection of real ales and has a delightful beer garden with views of the mountain range beyond.

For the adrenaline junkies amongst your party, across the valley there’s Zip World, home to Europe’s longest 500ft-high zip line and the stunning coastline of North Wales and Anglesey is only twenty minutes away by car.

BETHESDA

Bangor 6 miles; Caernarfon 10 miles.

Bethesda is a small town settled beside the River Ogwen in North Wales. Situated on the A5 between Bangor and the Snowdonia National Park, Bethesda was once a busy slate quarrying town and nowadays offers a good selection of shops and other amenities, in particular a number of chapels and pubs. The beautiful mountainous scenery of Snowdonia borders Bethesda, with the Lôn Las Ogwen cycling and walking paths skirting past. For the more adventurous, why not visit Zip World in Bethesda which is known for having Europe’s fastest and longest zip line. Capel Curig, just ten miles away, is a popular centre for walking, climbing and mountain biking, whilst Llanberis is situated at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the National Slate Museum.
